How big?

Post » Wed Dec 05, 2012 4:33 pm

As a PC player who can't experience this until next year, i'm just looking for someone who is playing it to give me an estimate of how big the map is compared to Skyrim.

Thank you!

a bit bigger than the reach, maybe between that and whiterun hold
except with way less mountains and valleys than the reach so it feels bigger

Wow...so it is technically the size of Shivering Isles, based on those metrics. Exciting!

What they said, but it's pretty well packed with lots of dungeons and stuff to do which makes up for the size. It's more than I expected.

tough to do
when in map mode its really close even at the farthest pull back so you cant see the entire island
plus clouds cover it annoyingly like the vanilla skyrim map

Another question.. Can you warp from Skyrim into Solstheim or must you take a boat?

Think of Solstheim in Bloodmoon.. now imagine that with large mountains, an ashy south coast, and a PC who cannot run nearly as fast as the general Nerevarine could.

I assume you are talking about a Nerevarine with HIGH Speed & Athletics? Because with the default starting stats for Speed & Athletics you run like MUD.
The Skyrim PC runs WAY faster than the initial Morrowind PC.

Still, I get what you're saying. As long as you can't run across it in 2 minutes, that's fine by me (I really hope I didn't just perfectly estimate how long it takes to run across it )

Nobody played Morrowind without boosting their speed while wearing the Boots of Blinding Speed. If they didn't, they should have.

As big or bigger, with as much or more to do. From someone who's been playing since arena... this is the best DLC for TES so far. Yes, over Shivering Isles and Bloodmoon and Tribunal. In fact, it's the best add on for any game I have ever played. It plays more like a smaller than Skyrim full game than a simple DLC. I would say, yeah, about the size of a full (busier) hold in Skyrim, with about the same density or a little more.

Idk if it's as big as the Isles but it's huge. Very satisfying.

I do get that it's the same Solstheim as in Morrowind/Bloodmoon, but the reason I ask in this case is because 1.) Skyrim and Oblivion are on different scales compared to Morrowind and 2.) Because Solstheim wasn't that big in Morrowind; you just couldn't see all the way across it like you do now. But all your answers have been very educational, and I am grateful!
