How to bring back thrown weapons (and spears)

Post » Thu Jan 31, 2013 1:00 pm

Back with another idea guys. I was thinking today about how throwing weapons could be implemented into the game, the good news is I thought of a way for it to be used smoothly in an elder scrolls game, the bad news if you will have to wait for TES 6.

So lets say they introduce spears. Great, now I can finally stab, poke and jab all I want, but how do I throw it? All the buttons on the controller are taken up. Not anymore, this is TES 6 so we probably aren't to dragonborn and now we have our L2 or Lb (I think) freed up. So you hold the trigger down and the crosshair comes up, let go and let her fly.

We also need throwing knives and throwing stars in an equipable pouch that we can throw in the same way. We need a throwable skill tree (if we still have skill tree's then) to add perks like ignoring armor. This is a pretty unrefined idea of what I would like to see. Thoughts?

This is a good idea :tops:
But it would probably come out on next gen consoles, they might have extra buttons!
Or not. But I would like the button to be used for magic like in oblivion so maybe make it so you hold a button then press attack to throw it?

I like the idea, but I think we could still implement throwing weapons if we made throwing knives/axes/spears dedicated as only throwing weapons that would operate along the lines of archery (you hold down the attack button to determine the power behind the throw). Traditional knives/axes/spears would operate like traditional one or two handed weapons.

What about the way you equip them? They could equipped either way, something the user decides. That way, no new button or needing to wait for next game.

That could work too.
