How can I export creation kit files into blender?

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 8:53 am

I want to make my own custom armor, but I want a starting model to help. I have blender 2.62 and I want to import Skyrim files so I can start working. Is there anyway how I can do that, or do I need other files?

Magic.

You need NifSkope, then export the model from there as an obj, then import the obj into blender.

You'll also need something to extract the meshes and textures you want to modify from the BSA files in the Skyrim data folder.

I'm using Fallout Mod Manager (FOMM) which comes with a BSA extractor. If you intend on editing the textures as well, you're also going to need software that can convert the textures into an editable format. There are several out there but the one I have been using is DDS Converter 2.1. This will convert the DDS texture file into whatever format you specify, *.jpg, *.tif, *.bmp, and even *.psd, and can convert them back once you've finished editing.
