How can I move a modded skyrim to a new computer?

Hello mod forum,

I have been having fun over the last couple months with skyrim on my laptop when I am away from home working. I have tried to search google and this forum but didn't come up with anything.

My question is, how can I move my entire mod collection from my laptop to my PC and keep playing there? I use NMM. I tried copying the entire skyrim folder to the same place on the PC but NMM doesn't recognize all mods as being installed. I would like to be able to uninstall mods through the NMM so I don't have to go rooting around for all the little files.

I just had a thought. The NMM has it's own mod folder somewhere (have to look that up) can I just move that to the new computer and put the .7z files there and then install?

Thanks for any help or direction you can give! Desire. to.. play.... rising!!!

If you ignore the mod manager, then the all you have to do is move the Data Files folder to the new instal location. Bring over any tweaked INI and Prefs and your ready to go.

However, if the Mod Manager did not put the mod on the game, then you can't manage it with the manager. As you surmised, there is a folder on your machine for housekeeping. However, I don't know how it knows what mods you have (just a list or some kind of registration with your machine). You can try moving that folder over, but it may not give you all that you want.
