How to cancel a sale?

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 11:20 am

ok i'm not going to mention the crap UI i promise...

aaaanyway is there no way to cancel a sale if you've made a mistake? I've accidentally sold an item (easy to do), and while still in the sale/vendor screen if you then go to get the item back you've got to pay full whack for it as it's immediately considered the property of the guy you're batering with.

That's a bit harsh isn't it?

Or am i missing something?

Also had it where i've sold an item i want back but then can't remember what it was - e.g. some nondescript dagger or something. There's no indication of what it was that i just put up for sale.

This seems a massive step back from fallout where you could just cancel the sale, and all your sold items appeared at the top of the vendor's list until you confirmed THE ENTIRE sale so you could review to make sure you didn't muck up.

Please, apart from a few braincells (and now some hair), am i missing something?

This is one criticism about the game that I completely agree with, I don't know why they abandoned the trade window from Fallout... seems like you would want to review the trade and make adjustments if necessary before you make the trade. Would even make sense to allow you to trade items for items, instead of always going through a gold intermediary... but that's a different topic.

Agreed! Bring back the Fallout 3 trade system!

Yeah, that one got me too. I know that having it ask "are you sure" every single time in Oblivion was a pain, but this is going a bit too far in the other direction. It doesn't even care if you're selling something you've got equipped.

The Fallout 3 method (select multiple items, then click "Trade") would have been a good compromise between the two.

I would imagine there are a lot of things they would like to have added but couldn't justify delaying the release, maybe this is one of them. This is particularly true about problems that can be addressed by F5 or, if you have autosaves on many of the vendors will autosave as you enter their store.

All the game has to do is slipstream your traded items into the trader's screen before you hit the (currently non-existent) "trade now" button for [censored]' s sake.

"No, we're Bethesda, we must change everything"

I quite like it. Makes you think before actually selling.

Yes ok the autosave i agree on - it's there and can be used but let's be honest here - how long would it have taken to make the change we're on about here?

Don't get me wrong i like the game, and i'm NOT mentioning the abysmal UI, but some things do get you pulling your hair out lol. So simple! :)

Yes m8 but there's thinking when you've just loaded the game and thinking when you've played 2/3/4 hours straight. Mistakes do creep in and could be avoided by a better system imho.
