How to change refresh rate?

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 7:57 am

Hi,

I'm one of the few people still using a CRT monitor. For games that don't support choosing the refresh rate manually, I usually use a tool called RefreshLock that can force the refresh rate to 85 Hz while it's running.

However, with Rage, if I use this tool and start the game, the screen flickers a few times and then the game starts only at 60 Hz.

Is there any other way to set my refresh rate to 85 Hz for Rage?

Using Windows XP SP3 if that matters.

Greetings,

The game is locked at 60fps anyway, any higher refresh rate would be pointless.

The game goes out of sync when framerates are above 60, eg. 120 fps = 2x actual game speed, which is why the framerate is locked.
It's impossible to change that without the game going out of sync.

If anybody has the same problem:

Here's what I did:

I only tried RefreshLock because I assumed to technique for refresh rate locking would always be the same.
I just tried with the latest ATI Tray tools, and if anybody has the same problem, you have to add a custom resolution, i.e. 1280x1024 at 85 Hz for me. It doesn't work if you just select "Refresh Lock", but if you add a custom resolution, it worked for me at least. (HD5770)
