How to configure mod load order

Post » Sun Jul 15, 2012 6:52 pm

i know how many people will want to punch me in the face when they see this but for a noob like me there is no clear way on google i have yet found on how to do this.

1-what would the load order be? (i.e. textures-visual things-buildings-sounds)
2-what qualifies as such is neach catagory? (i.e. "No more blocky faces"-visual)
3-how do set this up? (i.e. do i create a txt file with them all in order?)
4-where do i put step 3? (i.e. idk, data folder?)
5-if someone could take the time to review some common mods that many use
to determine what its category might be for people who wont get that.

thanks in advance

Run BOSS: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1395580-relz-boss-for-skyrim/

That should help you.

Load order is determined by the order listed in plugins.txt.

Install order is important when handling loose files. For that, I recommend using Bash: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1395353-rel-wrye-bash/

i was hoping to avoid using those programs because i understand they can mess everything up, or help you. in the plugins.txt, where is it located? how is each mod displayed? what type of order should it be in?

They are fine to use if you actually read the documentation.

Learn how to use the tools available like Wrye Bash, BAIN, and BOSS as soon as possible. A modded Skyrim can be a very pleasant experience.
Finding out which of the hundred or so different mods you have installed is causing dissapearing Mammoth corpses and missing items in Helgen is very easy when you can narrow down a specific mod and not have to reinstall the game over and over.
Do not install more than one or two different mods at a time, and see if there is a problem before You have lost weeks of gameplay due to Saved Game Corruption. <--- this has cost me so many hours...
