how customizable keys are ?!

Post » Thu Nov 14, 2013 10:28 am

I Just wana know if all our actions are customizable ,both from keyboard and mouse . I may want to unbind my right mouse button and put it on my keyboard key (space for example ) to block with space and use the left mouse button to using pots or to use my ultimate.

There are people that dont like the feeling of a fps game with the first person view camera and attack with left mouse , they may want the specific mmorpg third view camera and to attack with E ,and block with Q or Space key for example...and not to attack with mouse buttons..

It will be good to have all actions fully customizable be them from keyboard or mouse. !!

We do know actually.

http://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/802/kw/key%20binds

So while you probably can't unbind the default attacks and block from the mouse, its safe to assume you can bind those actions to your keyboard.

EDIT: and the entry I just linked got updated to include that the mouse button actions can in fact by bound elsewhere, nice!

I -still- have to use AutoHotKey for some MMOs, because they will not let you use the Numpad Enter button (or if they do, they consider it the same as the regular Enter button)....and there are some MMOs that, if you change the hotkey, still display the original hotkey on, like, the hotkey bar or pop-up notices and such, making it so that I have to remember what "G" originally meant. :P

ESO seems to be a reasonable MMO, though, in terms of keybinding. :)

That will svck ...because who wana have the main attack 2 times , on keyboard and mouse ?!

I hope they will let players to unbind how the want the keys.

There are people that dont like the feeling of a fps game with the first person view camera and attack with left mouse , they may want the specific mmorpg third view camera and to attack with E ,and block with Q or Space key for example...

It may be not a game breaker for many but indeed a triple A mmo that will come in 2014 ,should let us bind/assign the key how we want , in order to have a great experience while playing the game ..

Buy a gaming keyboard and mouse and you can bind or unbind keys however you want.

I couldn't give up my Razers.

You should read the page that was linked:

mouse-button actions (such as combat controls) can also be re-mapped to the keyboard.

I read that, but then I should be able to bind my mouse keys buttons other than the attack/block ?

Is like , why to bind a key from keyboard to attack, if i cant bind the left mouse button ,I will end up heaving attack/block on mouse and keyboard same time, and is not good..

They said UI is fully modable, didn't they?

Since UI is not only output but also input this would include modable key mapping.

not really, when talking about MMOs, UI is ALWAYS referring to the stuff we see on screen like health bars, mini maps, etc.

Than you might be able to show me one single MMO with modable UI where key mapping is not changeable via those mods.

Just one.

And UI is allways refering to the whole interface, while HUD is only refering to the display. Sorry that you didn't know.

Key mapping has nothing to do with mods, because UI mods or not, EVERY PC game has at least some keybinding ability, Everquest clones (of which most MMOs are) tend to have all keys changeable but few have actually UI mods.

And yeah, sorry, UI in MMOs refers to the stuff you see on screen besides the games actually game graphics, which has nothing to do with keymapping.

One single MMO, that has UI Mods but mods can't change key binding possibilitys.

Just one, or I shall call you a stupid liar.

I cannot think of any mmo that does not allow keybinding to some extent.

Dcuo, sto, etc do not allow mods of any kind, but allow keybinding.

Call m3 a stupid liar all you want, but ui and keybinding have nothing to do with eachother.

If you were correct then explain to me why ui and keybind are always in different sections of the option menu.

I need to agree here , UI and HUD dont have anything to do with keyboard/mouse binding.

Anyway I understand that game keys/actions are fully customizable on keyboard but not on mouse.

Hope I can also rekey these things on my PS4, although knowing Elder Scrolls, I'll probably be satisfied with the default setting.

My preference:

At All Times,

Left stick move,

Right Stick Looks

Left click: stealth

Right Click: 3rd/ 1st person/ Vanity Cam

D-pad has 4 directions:

Exploration Mode,

Combat Bar 1,

Combat Bar 2,

RP/ Interaction Mode,

Combat Bars:

X :: Jump

O :: Skill 3

Sq :: Skill 4

Tri :: Skill 5
R1 :: Skill 2

R2 :: Attack

L1 :: Skill 1

L2 :: Block

Touchpad: Hot key items, also Ultiamte ability right in the center

Exploration Mode

X :: Activate item/ pick flower/ talk t onpc

O :: Go back on menu/ hold for map

Sq :: Call Horse

Tri :: Jump
R1 :: Pull up Journal

R2 :: "Scan" Object

L1 :: Pull up pocket guide to flora, minerals, other craftables.

L2 :: Use Binoculers

Interaction Mode

X :: Talk/ Interact with object

O :: Go back on menu/ hold for map

Sq :: Whistle for Horse

Tri :: Jump
R1 :: Quick Emote Wheel

R2 :: Full interaction animation menu

L1 :: Quick Chat Options

L2 :: Chat Channel Radial Menu

What do you think?

I think this is the only practical way to handle the MMO on a console controller. I don't want to have to awkwardly thumb throughout my skills, I want all of them accessible at a push of a button in combat. Maybe it could be accommodated for smoother interaction, however I like the idea of having optimal functionality present through the four d-pad options. Maybe have square be draw weapon instead? I'm not sure about that.

But I like that RP'ers could have a set up making their interaction run faster on a console. I think of the "scan" feature to be like "right-clicking" to get some more details. Highlight the object, if it's an ingredient it'll show you how much you have discovered about that. If it's an enemy it will bring up quick stats you have discovered for that monster type. In PVP it could tell you the faction/ class/ level (if applicable???)/ current weapon equipped. That way someone could take the position of scout on the walls and call out healers etc. as we will not be able to tell that information simply by their armor any more.
