How to disable Autosave?

Post » Fri May 18, 2012 12:32 pm

Alright, so I've seen a lot of people (on Google) have posted a lot of info on how disabling autosaves improved the lag issue amongst PS3 players but one issue remains... they don't explain HOW to do this. I've unfortunately run into a save issue which both of my manual saves were overwritten with two "Prisoner" saves which I thought weren't to be touched unless done by me. Nope. So I'm hoping this autosave feature can be disabled so I can just save normally and don't lose my playtime on my main toons.

Start > L1 > Settings > Gameplay > Save on Rest, Save on Wait, Save on Travel = their diamond icons should be empty (i.e. without two weaving lines) & Save on Character Menu = "Disable"

Yep. For example, let's say you're currently in-game and decide to pause the game to, say, look at what Quest you're currently working on. If you do just that, my above directions should do the trick for you.

While in game:
Press "Start"
L1 to "System"
Arrow down to "Settings"
Press "X'
Select "Gameplay"
Press "X"
Arrow down to "Save on Rest" "Save on Wait" and "Save on Travel"
Deselecft All 3
Arrow down to "Save on Character Menu" and select to "Disabled"
Hit "O" twice and you've saved your settings.

Oh~, okay. I thought there was a way to disable autosave completely, not specific conditions. Sorry for my naivety.

Once you turn off those four forms of auto-save, there should no longer be any way for the game to auto-save. I have, however, run into on stance where the game did somehow create an auto-save file in my PS3's "Saved Data Utility", but it's not happened since. Also, once you turn off these auto-save features, you'll no longer see "corrupt" save files showing up in your Saved Data Utility when your game/console freeze up. Cause believe me...you're console's still gonna freeze up and you game is still gonna perform progressively worse due to the PS3's crap'tacular 256/256 ram setup and Bethesda's failure to accommodate to this hardware shortcoming. :(

Quite the contrary. I have not run into any bugs since I've gotten it. Only bug I've witnessed is the Bonestrewn Crest dragon fleeing as I approach it... that was annoying.

Lvl 48, 13MB, 131.06.47...unless I'm clearing dungeons, the gameplay is pretty horrendous at this point for me.
