How disappointed were you to find out that Astrid is married

Post » Fri Oct 26, 2012 1:44 am

This is not a spoiler. Unless you thing everything is a spoiler. If so, leave now.

"The quiet type," she said to me in the cabin in the woods, the first time I met her, "I like that."

She told me about the Dark Brotherhood. She told me she wanted me to join. My mind was wondering whether or not I would have to refer to her as 'sister' if I joined, and if that would change once she and I were married. That could get awkward. All doubts aside though, I joined the brotherhood. It was no more than ten minutes later that she dropped the "H" bomb. Husband.

"WHAT?! This is your... hus... band? But... but... but... he's old! I think. Is his hair blond or white? And he's barefoot. Not judging but... why? And, crap, he's more buff than me!" By this point, I was completely over the fact that she was married, and way more concerned about the buff, barefoot old man that I wanted to stab. But I digress.

The point is, she was totally sending mixed messages here! She said she likes the quiet type, in a way that indicated to me that she likes the quiet type. She could have mentioned that her husband was, in fact, the quiet type as well. It was all just a sick ploy to get me to join. "Don't be fooled by a pretty face," someone told me after the fact, but it was too little too late.

So here we are, Shadowmere and I, wandering the Skyrim countryside, looking for love. Unfortunately, in this fantasy story, damsels in distress are few and far between.

She likes the quiet type who doesn't ask too much and carries out the orders. She is the leader of the Dark Brotherhood. She wasn't hitting on you, she was just encouraging you to keep your mouth shut and do what you're told.

Nah, she was the stereotypical hot but extremely envious woman who will backstab you at any time that us guys joke about all the time. You could see it from miles away, it was so blatant. Not interest in her at all.

Hroki is labelled as a child in the CK, so she is probably a teenager, that's why you can't marry her

This.

When she did the whole 5-year-old's temper tantrum about "I lead this Sanctuary, not that immensely powerful servant of Sithis!!!!!"... I thought to myself, "Yeah, you used to be hot... then you opened your mouth. Now I want to staple your lips shut."

Her attitude and personality, while great for the type of character that is suffering from megalomaniacal tendencies whilst her power is slowly subverted, reeeeeeaaaaaaaallllly grates on the nerves after a bit.

So I usually decide to stick with my Vampire wife Ysolda. She's at least happy to see me and isn't trying to sell me out to save herself...

Maybe it's just me, but I really don't go for that [censored].

There's a serious issue with Nordic female teenagers, namely how can they be so tall at such a young age? Like they say: kids these days...

I think she says the "quiet" line regardless of your gender.

Anyway, my Dunmer killed her. You don't kidnap a witch and think you can get away with it.

Not at all disappointed. I'm an excessive realist! Would've been surprised had she NOT been.

Disappointed? Lol I couldn't have cared less.

Okay, I did feel a little sad for Arnbjorn, but that's about it.

Because you killed him or because he's married to Astrid?

The latter, lol, I don't know how I would've known the two were a couple if I hadn't opted to join them instead of destroying them. Speaking from the perspective of my characters of course.

Don't feel too bad. I'm sure he gets plenty of doggy style (lol, lycanthropy) to make up for her personality problems.

I was disappointed for sure - she was hot. Unfortunately, you can't have her anyway, so I guess it didn't really matter in the end. It also made me more professional from the start without having delusions. I'm more disappointed that I couldn't help her save our family by burning that damned coffin and killing Cicero (the game doesn't really acknowledge, from her point of view, whether you really killed that idiot or not) earlier on to prove my loyalty to her.
