How does anyone ever level up Pickpocketing?

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 5:05 pm

It's like impossible to power level.

Leveling it up normally is way too slow.

the higher the value of the item the faster it goes up, any time I ever use a trainer I pickpocket all my gold back. i raised my skill pretty fast that way at low levels pickpocketing 500 gold was getting me 2 levels at a time. remember to use the thief stone when trying to level it up.

The trainer "Silda the Unseen" in windhelm is great for training and stealing back from as she wont send thugs after you. just dont try and take large amounts back from her at one time.

Are you raising it to use it as a skill or to raise it to get to level 81? it is probably the slowest skill to get to 100 if you dont put any points into it as you will have the hardest time getting high value items with out getting caught. If you put some points into it, it will fly up.

That doesn't seem to work.

Whenever I try pickpocketing the gold back it won't let me.

I just pumped five levels into Silda every level - didn't even try to steal it back, as my character doesn't steal. That means I can't ever get it beyond 75, since I believe you have to be TG to get the higher-level trainer, but good enough. Silda and I are good, good friends now. My only question is why she doesn't use the thousands of septims I gave her to buy some shoes. I guess she has a really bad drug habit or something.

are you trying to do it right after traing or are you leaving the cell? if you leave the cell the money will be gone, just like if she was a merchant.

here is what to do
1. train with her one time (raise one level), exit
2. pickpocket the gold back (raise one level)
3. rinse and repeat until you are out of training sessions for you current level, return to her when you level up again.

Do not try and take all the gold back at once she will catch you every time.

Ok it's easy, get the skill that allows 25% more from sleeping people. Break into house and pickpocket them while they are sleeping.

If you get caught bribe guards because your in guild then steal money you just gave them and that is 1 level. My pick pocket is 42 and I just started this character today.

My thief took the first perk in light hands and can pretty much get a 90% chance to steel just about anything when wearing the thiefs guild armor. The few things she couldn't steel she drank a potion for.
Almost everybody has some kind of jewelry on them, steel it all.You will level your pickpocket skill fastest that way.At low levels it can be hard to level but once you get a couple of perks it levels up faster than sneak,at least it did for me.

Once you get it to a reasonable level
  • You can also go to riften,
  • end up in jail,
  • escape and kill the guards,
  • then pickpocket Sibbi Black-Briar for ever. He won't do anything.

Pretty much like this, although i also recommend, before going to jail, pickpocket a riften jail key from one of the guards and put it in the draw in the cell you go into.
That way you don't need to pick the lock.

I've focused on that skill this playtrough. First pickpocketing gold from bandits and townspeople, then some more valuiable stuff like rings and necklaces. Once i got the misdirection perk, i pickpocket every bandits weapons and give them back after i kill them :hehe:

And yes, pickpoketing arrows is a good way to level up too. I still have over 500 steel arrows :lmao:

Focus on small easy to steal items until you get your level up a little then you can start stealing more valuable gear. Alternatively you can get your enchanting up and wear several items of fortify pickpocket.

Ummm... Why are you training up your pickpocket if you don't steal? :bonk: :bonk:

For the levels - eventually you will hit the level cap with the skills you do use.

Waiting for night fall then going house to house to loot people while they're asleep with the night thief perk works wonders. When I was doing bedlam jobs for the Thieves Guild I would ransack a shop and the owner, and depending on the loot, could usually get a pickpocket level or two per city.

When you get to be a high level and the standard loot improves, you can easily jack a silver/gold jeweled necklace/ring and get massive pickpocketing experience.

Yeah to any city. I did it in Whiterun. Most NPCs are wearing at least one piece of jewelry. Pickpocket it off of each NPC. I was able to get 20 levels really easily that way and made a ton of money off of it. Most NPCs have a ring or amulet that is nice for pickpocketing because it doesn't weigh a lot.

I did the trainer exploit.

Already level 100 pickpocketing.

I thought it would take alot longer.

too slow? it levels like 2 levels per person. Pickpocket enemies! This way you will not get a bounty if caught. Getting a ring with +pickpocket helps too.

Ive had a few characters on which I used Silda to train to level 50 for the extra pockets perk and Ive wondered the same thing.
I think she mixes skooma with sleeping tree sap and crushed diamonds or something.
