How exactly do you pack up files into a BSA?

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 12:36 am

A mod of mine has quite a few scripts, it would be better and cleaner if I could pack them all up into a BSA file along with the esp. I have FOMM and I've tried but to no avail.

I made a new Script folder, put all the relevant files inside, then used FOMM to BSA the folder. Didn't work, after I took out the script files from my script folder temporarily to see if it worked just going from the BSA, it wouldn't. Second attempt I made a Data/Script folder, put the script files in the script folder and tried to BSA the Data folder and followed the same steps but with the same result.

So how do you do it? It would make my mod a hell of a lot less cluttered.

Open your mod in the Creation Kit and choose 'Create Archive' from the menu :)

Maybe another silly question, what is the Bsl. file that comes with it? I've downloaded mods that had this and some never, so I would assume you don't really need it?

Edit: Nvm it's ok, the old saying "There's only one way to find out" seems apt. It seems to work without it.

I think they're used for uploading to steamworks.

Open your mod in the Creation Kit and choose 'Create Archive' from the menu

Crated archive does not work for me, however create and upload does, I just cancel instead of writhing an description.
I like it, so easy to forget files or do other mistakes then using loose files.

Why is there no corresponding "Unpack archive" in the CK? You would think that would save having to install BSAUnpacker or some other 3rd party program that may or may not recognise the Skyrim BSA format...
