I usually kill myself if my character dies. Needless to say I'm pretty beast at the game.

Every time I get shot with an arrow, my brother punches me, every time I get hit with a frost spell, he pours water on me, I get hit with a fire spell, he burns me with a ciggarette. The worst is lightning spells, I electrocute myself by stuffing a fork in the outlet

only in terms of character design and dress sense.

Especially with additional characters
i.e. If I had a Bosmer or a Dunmer I'd give him Elven armor and a bow, if I had an Orsmer he'd have Orcish armour, if I had an Imperial I'd give him ebony armor etc etc

no backstories, but, I do like to have a general personality that I try to stick to.

my warrior is basically good hearted, likes kids, tries to help when asked, but, uses his toughness to intimidate those who seem mean or evil. Gladly gets into bar brawls when challeged. no problems looting an ancient tomb, but, he has no business skulking around peoples homes uninvited or stealing things that don't belong to him. never sneak, always yell loudly when attacking to give the other guy a fair chance to run away before I kill him in honorable combat (no poisons). always go for the mages first, hate mages, also, no magic use (not a hypocrite). will use potions but, don't have the intelligence to figure out how to brew my own or how to enchant items myself, although magic item use is acceptable. smithing is preferable to enchanting. only keep what I think is meaningful, like speical gifts for jobs well done, or items that I crafted myself. anything else I just sell or give away. This character does not do any mage or thief related quests or anything that sounds illicit in anyway.

of course, when I start my thief, I will basically be the opposite of that; sneaking, poisons, backstabbs, stealing, skulking. stealing is fun and should be done just because I can get away with it. pick people's pockets just to see what they have. try to avoid direct conflict and either run and hide, get a defensive position and shoot arrows, or just run away like a little girl; don't want to bruise this pretty little face of mine. still wont use magic though, too complicated, not graceful enough. prefer to persuade when possible, try to get everyone to like me, even though I would stab them in the back if I thought it profit me. would be a collector and keep pretty much everything (packrat). I would want to create a museum of all the stuff that I would find on my adventures, nothing is too crappy to keep! This character will not join the Champions, they just seem too honor bound and the mages college is too intellectual, but thieves guild and brotherhood are just his thing.

my mage would use no weapons to at all and no armor (too unsophisticated). he would be selfish and think of himself as better than every one, and only do a quest for someone if he thought there was power to be had by it (new spells, magic items). stealing is acceptable only if it would lead to more power (special ingredients, spell tomes, magical staves, etc). He would be a collector of knowledge (try to get at least 1 copy of every book in the game) and learn every spell. Companions are too brutish, thieves guild is too low class, brotherhood is too subservient to a Deadra. the college of magic will be tolerated but only until he has the power he needs to rule the world!

eventually, I will play a ranger that stays away from civilization when possible and only keeps what he can carry and only uses what he can find. Hunting Elk and Catching fish to stay alive.

I also have an idea for a dual wielding spellsword, but, don't know what kind of personality I will use for that one.

Basically just a backstory and personality, morals, stuff like that. I do fast travel, though, as I don't have a whole lot of time to play.

Very.

My roleplay now spans four TES games.
I play the same guy each time.

He reincarnates temporally non-linear, and at some point when his memories come back he will remember that during the time of Morrowind three seperate versions of him were alive and wandering Tamriel.
Hes not going to like that.

I spend a lot of time in my owned house and walk around town wearing normal clothes instead of armor. I try to give my character a backstory and a reason to be doing the things he/she does. I make up character interactions and relationship bonds that don't exist in the game, in order to give NPC's more importance. I eat food when there's no gameplay reason to do so. So I'd say I'm very into roleplaying.

Well, I don't really have strict rules, because they are meant to be meant for purposes of story narrative imo, all things in moderation.

But:

Character

Each character has a sufficient background to allow each of my decisions in game some context in the making. They aren't extensive year by year, but usually an outline of major events in their life that would shape the characters thinking and motivations.

Sleeping and Eating

At night I will usually find the closest safe bed, if none is available, I'll push through. Same goes with food, I'll usually have a meal if I stop at an inn, and some fruit while I walk. I do not religiously observe "mealtimes" thou.

Fast Travel
Occasional Cart use, when I need to get from A to B in relative safety, for instance, there was a point where I had to give up my possessions, and had to travel across the map to collect them again. I used a cart to the nearest city.
Direct fast travel, I'll use if something frustrated me. Eg, random death whilst just having a saunter between two points quite far apart, I'll fast travel close to where I died.

Quests

My plan for my first character was Imperial, Companions, Main, there was no character motivation to wish to join any other. This was broken a bit by being unable to go past the first mission in the companions, but not completing this line hasn't bothered me, its there for another character someday.
If the quest offers nothing my character would be motivated to complete, it doesn't get done. Completing quests for the sake of it seems silly to me.. there will be other characters, other days, you won't miss anything! I don't CARE if it sits there for the rest of my characters life, its a badge of honor to the characters self-discipline.

I've kept track of a family line for about 8 years in RPG gaming (yes, I know, not really lore-accurate). Every character I create is part of a family tree that started back in Neverwinter...they are either thieves or mages, or a mix of either. Their looks are similar. And if they have same same as an ancestor, they get a number (the 8th). In each game, I've started on the selfish chaotic side, and then, like a gene, the character over time must move towards a good hero type (but must start off each game doing a bit of evil, but by end I don't allow evil deeds).

If I ever take an arrow to the knee, my character signs up for the guards of the nearest hold.

I limit fast travel like a lot of people. Eat and drink at least once per day. Only join certain factions that match my character (Companions, Thieves Guild). Walk when in cities, settlement's and inn's. Make camp wherever I am at night, and only shift into wolf form when I'm away from population - I only prey on bandit's and guards patrolling the wilderness. Also, I only carry a certain amount of weight on me.

I try do do thing like I would be here with some exception of course. My current character is a Jack of all trade and learned a lot because of his traveling. He don't have a 'moral compass' and don't worship any Aedra or Daedra but he will do what must be done and he's ambitous. He realize that some of the power he has it's because of the Daedra or Aedra and for this he's gratefull.

Fast travel When I have a very long walk to do .. Yes . If I am in Riften and I need to go to Markath I will do it with fast travel. Sometime I don't and take another way to 'explore' . When I enter a new area I take my time and add my own cinematic 'spice' and flavour to it,
But it's hard I admit . Because a lot of dungeons are so big-empty and look like any other dungeons I visited. I always end up rushing through some of them.

I cheat my own game very often though . Because sometime I just don't care and want thing done.

The problem with walking is that WALKING IS so slow .. Much slower than real life .. I mean you walk at .02 mph. I was just thinking when playing and walking how my character walk SLLLLLLLLLLLLOWWWW.

I just made a character that I am going to rp as Satan. I made him an Orc for the sweet teeth, gave him dark skin, red warpaint on his face, and dark hair including a sweet evil looking beard. I am going to make most decisions as I think Satan would, within reason. I'll probably kill more innocents and stuff.

He's going to specialize in Conjuration(summoning minions), Illusion(trickery), and one handed for the most part. I really, really wish I could use a trident.

In certain areas I'm fairly hardcoe but in other areas I'm fairly liberal. Example:

-- I will create a character archtype and do a fairly good job sticking to it ... I.E. a Paladin probably wouldn't join the Thieves Guild or Dark Brotherhood. They wouldn't kill unless it was needed, etc. They may be good at Smithing and Alchemy but never touch Enchanting

-- Based on the sorts of restrictions I put on myself I "metagame" for a minute before I decide on what difficulty level to set. I want some challenge but don't want to make a fight with a skeever a life & death situation.

-- I will fully use all features of the game like the Journal or Map or Fast Travel esp. once I'm through the "exploration" phase of the game.

-- I tend not to make characters that don't fit at least somewhat into the game mechanics to avoid getting frustrated

My Bar wench build takes the denizens clothes from the local tavern down to the rivlet to wash them once a week. Then they tell me to "stick my hand in their trouser pocket for a 'tip'." So I pickpocket them.

I take roleplaying seriously....
Last night i got hit with an arrow, so i stabbed myself in the same area. A troll bashed me in the face so i jumped down from a 2 story building with my face first.
This game is gonna be the end of me :(
