How Far Am I?

Post » Wed Dec 29, 2010 5:17 pm

I am wondering how far I'm until the end game? I killed Mr. House, I and got Yes Man setup at the Lucky 38 with the beefed up securitron. Right now, I'm at hoover dam doing missions for the NCR. I just wanted to know if I'm coming close to the end. I still don't know who to side with. Leaning torwards the NCR since I'm questing for them at the moment, but that could all change. Ant help would be great. Thanks in advance.

You're near the end. Precisely how near is impossible to tell you, as it starts sending you on quest hooks that you may have already completed the quests for.

You're very close to the end, and if you're doing missions for the NCR at Hoover Dam you're already locked to them for the rest of the game since I'm assuming that means you did the Boomer mission in their favor. Which means you'll get the NCR ending for the game.

That is very wrong. Boomer mission is quite easily done for yourself and nobody'll know the difference.

Thanks for the quick replies fellas. Yes, I did the boomer side quest. I choose them to help the NCR, although I got a couple quests from the Legion asking me to tell them to side with them as well. I'm afraid of going solo as I don't want to have to deal with both the Legion and NCR on my [censored]. :P

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_quests#Game_End_Quests

"For these quests you must choose only one faction to be loyal to. The quests for the other factions are failed when you gain infamy for siding against them with whichever faction you choose. The choice between Mr. House and Independence/Yes Man is made first during Wild Card: Change in Management and The House Always Wins, but the player is still able to choose between this choice, Caesar's Legion, or the NCR for a little longer. The final choice on a single faction must be made after the player floats up the B-29 from the lake for the Boomers (or immediately after the first choice if you have already completed Volare! previously). After completing the quest Volare!, the next step is to report to Caesar's Legion, the NCR, or Mr. House/Yes Man that the boomers will assist them in the fight at Hoover Dam. Which faction the player reports the Boomers support to locks the player to that faction for the remainder of the game. "

You can do the quest solo, but if you tell them to support a faction that's the faction you are stuck with.

The wiki is wrong. I can confirm from personal experience.

I got them to support me. I reported support to NCR, then continued on the NCR path until they asked me to destroy the brotherhood.

That'd be why.

It's also exactly what I said (for yourself) and in no way contradicts what he's doing. As I did dam missions after the Boomer mission, then changed to Yes Man on a different decision point. The wiki, on the other hand, says that who you report to is a major decision point. It's not.

He said he had the Boomer's support the NCR. As opposed to you, whom got them to support yourself.

No, he didn't. He didn't mention the Boomers at all. You brought them up as an assumption that he had to since he's at the dam. Something I was pointing out is a false assumption, as I did them for myself and still went to the dam.

I see that now. He had not posted that by the time I made my original reply. So it stands on that ground, but maybe not for him.

If he had done boomer for himself, as I said, he could still do NCR.

Like I said when I first posted here, once you tell them who to support, you're stuck to that. Which is exactly what he did, which you would have known if you'd have read what he said.
