I haven't played in a while but i'm pretty sure they're just scenery; useless objects like skulls and plates and such. They're just meant to add to scenes and look cool

I'm not familiar with the broken hammer but I have found the sword parts. I figure they are just for decoration and serve no practical purpose.

i wish they'd stop putting useless unuseable items in these games when they could be putting more useful items in or at least make the useless items none pick ups the hours i wasted trying to find out what to do with them and find the other parts has now annoyed me

With the Creation Kit, you can mod them to be required components for a constructible object. That's what modders are currently doing for the inkwells, quills, and rolls of paper...scrollmaking, baby! Sad thing is I'm sure those things were made because there was a plan to have you repair those broken swords or MAKE things from those "useless" items...but you know...deadlines. I feel for you console dudes.

Yup. This guy gets it. I like using the sword pieces to decorate.

ok i can understand bowls plates cups candlesticks but broken swords that make it seem like you need to repair them so you spend 20 plus hours trying to figure out how to to then find out they can't be is annoying its ok if your playing on a pc cos of modding but on a console to limited to what you can do even though the 360 can do pretty much what pc can with skyrim all i'm saying is take out those none useable items like the broken weapons and they can add more items or improve on others.

just like the arrow in the knee this is a subtle hint from the devs because if you can remember there were repair hammers and weapons degraded in oblivion and you also had grieves

I'm with you guys. I'm happy to pretend there is some unknowable story to the broken weapon and since it's so unique, I carried it home for display. If you were walking on some old battlefield and you found an old rusty bayonet, would you just call it useless junk and toss it? I hope not.
