How to get dragon souls?

Post » Tue Aug 06, 2013 4:50 pm

Hello!

I am stuck in the Dragonborn-DLC quest "Cleansing the Stones" in which I have to use the shout "Bend Will", but I cannot activate that shout, because it says "Use Dragon Souls to unlock shouts".

How do I obtain "dragon souls"? When I kill a dragon, all I obtain is gold and bones. There is no message of obtaining a dragon soul.

I already resovled the main quest "The Way of the Voice".

The teller is when you step close to the dragon after it's dead. There should be a burst of fire off of it which rushes to your character. At that point you have absorbed a dragon soul and have it available to unlock a shout.

Edit: Click on the shout to use the soul you have absorbed. I believe your general information category displays the number of dragon souls consumed.

The dragon soul will be an item? (That flashy fire did not appear). For the main quest "The Way of the Voice" I had to desactivate the Dragonborn-DLC.

Sounds like you have a bug.

Tell me, after you kill a Dragon, is there "swirling music" with color being absorbed by you?

:bonk: No it is not an item. If you saw no flame it sounds like you are bleeped. Go to your game file info (Where you save your game and check your quests). Click on General then Magic and look down about six lines or so to the line Dragon Souls Absorbed. If it shows nothing then you have been royally glitched.

I use Windows.

I have only one dragon soul absorbed, but I had to desactivate the "Dragonborn"-DLC. Now that I am playing the DLC, I cannot turn it of.

Is there a console command to manually add "Dragon Souls"?

Wowwwww, what have you done? Don't *EVER EVER EVER* attempt to deactivate modules for Skyrim, either for DLCs or for mods, and then load a game save where they were active, unless there are specific instructions to uninstall. And there aren't instructions to uninstall DLC modules. The Dragonborn DLC module was active, even if you haven't "started" it in-game.

You dun FUBAR'd your game. Start a new game from scratch. And *DON'T* fiddle with deactivating modules once you start.

On the main quest, when Jarl Balgruf sends you out to fight that first dragon, did you get that first soul? That fire/flame/whirlwind should happen when you kill a dragon.

Why did you deactivate the Dragonborn dlc?

What Madcat said. heed his words well.

I will give you the console command for future reference, but still... start a new character, as your problem will only increase on your corrupted save.

player.modav dragonsouls x

x = the amount of souls you desire

To answer your original quesiton OP, pull up the Shout in your Powers list, then press R to activate or unlock it. If you got close enough to a dragon to get the bones, you have to have at least one soul absorbed.

I read on a FAQ on the internet that I had to desactivate the Dragonborn-DLC in order to complete the quest "The Way of the Voice". When I desactivated the DLC, I was able to collect the dragon soul of the main game.

If anything, you need the Way of the Voice to do Dragonborn.

whatever FAQ you read lied to you, and just royally *****ed your game..

you don`t have to deactivate any DLC for any quest...

you see, when you have a DLC module activated, its scripts are still running within your save, even if you never started any of the content the DLC provides. by deactivateing the DLC and continuing your active save, those scripts become "Corrupted" for lack of a better term... which ends up harming your Save significently..

and just reactivating the DLC will not fix this, and that "corruption" will continue to affect that character indefinitely...

as such, I suggest you make a new character, if you truly deactivated and reactivated a DLC, you are going to experience alot more semi-hazardous glitches.

Yep, start over as the others have said. Your game is absolutely broken.

The white haired dude is right, deactivating mods with scripts mid-game = bad.

Doing the same with DLC = save game meltdown.
