How To Get Over Negative (to the point of being insulting) C

Post » Sun Dec 23, 2012 3:28 am

Hey guys,

So, I'm sure you guys know what it's like when you work really hard on something, be it a test, or a work of art, or whatever, and it turns out you didn't do a good job. The feeling of having put your heart and effort into it, but it just wasn't enough. Well, being a blogger, I write articles, about once a week, and some do well, but the most recent one bombed. I got a lot of pretty nasty comments because of it.

Now, before I continue, I'll say that I'm not usually the type to be bothered by opposition. I could always handle bullies, never had any problems socially, and was never considered a "pansy" type how I probably sound now. But for some reason, I'm pretty bummed out that I worked so hard on an article, doing research, writing it out, and then making it look nice with pictures and all, yet people didn't like it at all. I'm somewhat disappointed in myself.

So the topic of discussion is; how do you deal with it? How do you get over it? I mean, all those cool quotes are running through my mind, and I believe them, but I'm still having trouble "getting back on the horse" so to speak.

Advice?

Take a break from it. I get bummed for negative feedback too but I usually get over it in the next 15-20 minuets, but (like I said) stepping back from it for a day or two will make you feel better.

If you dont mind, may we see the blog in question?

Thanks for that, I guess I will. I would link it, but I can't because of forum inappropriate language sprinkled here and there.

Ignorance, ignorance makes everything go away.
I've failed plenty of things that I've tried hard at and in the end I just shrug, because I really don't care about much or anyone's criticizing opinion.

If you've done it once you can do it again, and if that one was you're worst, everything after it will surely be better.

Firstly, you look at what went wrong. Why didn't people like it? etc.

If there is no reason people didn't like it, then those opinions don't really mean anything. However, if someone has a genuine reason as to why they didn't like what you created then you take that into account, you learn from it.

However, presuming people just disagree with whatever your blog was about, you just keep at it. If people disagree, they disagree, I mean there's no use in getting caught up in something you can't change. It's like trying to hide from death, you will die some day, so you may as well embrace the fact and use it (whether that be as motivation or whatever).

Anything that isn't constructive criticism isn't worth dwelling on. Shrug it off and continue. You can't always receive positive feedback, so that is just something you have to get used to.

Booze is one way, though killing them with kindness is my preferred method. It's like trolling them back, in a nice way.

Yeah, i'm curious about it too.

Well, it's a top ten list for my favorite anime of 2012. The responses I got ranged from "meh" to "horrible, [censored] taste, absolutely awful". I don't even see where I went wrong, because I mentioned pretty much all the notable shows of the year. If you guys want to check it out, the website name is www.haruhichan.com and the articles by "Tomoki" are mine. Latest one is mine, so it should be right in your face somewhere. Will give a warning about the language though. There's no swearing in the article, but the comments section has quite a few.

Edit: I notice that at least half a dozen of those comments were removed, so it's a lot less inflammatory now.
