I've seen it mentioned that some books trigger side quests. Does a book with a side quest trigger it when you open the book, like the way skill books work, or not until you flip to the relevant page?

I've found myself flipping to the end of every book because I don't want to miss a possible side quest...

I would assume it would be upon opening it; not to a certain page, but simply opening it to the title page like a skill book.

I think it's just opening the book.

I got one about a red eagle sword? Just from opening it.

I received a quest from a book just by opening it.

when I have learned something from a book, it recall it was opening it and maybe flipping one page. never had a notice after that.

some journals trigger side quests not so sure about books. If i pick up a book and dont hear anything like a chime or whatever that sound is i leave it where it is. Journals I do tend to keep or store somewhere.


although there was a book about red eagles sword...that one triggered a quest didnt have to flip through all the pages tho just open it.

I would speculate that you get the information from reading the books. They may not be quest that show up in the quest menu.
