How do I get rid of the Dead Dragon following me?

Post » Wed Jan 23, 2013 4:51 am

So, I am suffering from the glitch where a dead dragon carcass follows me around wherever I go. It is fully skinned, and empty of items.

Currently, it is stuck in Lakeview Manor, but it has dropped from the sky on me in several different locations, including Solitude and Whiterun.

I've heard that waiting a certain number of in-game days will clear it up. Can anyone confirm this, or suggest a different method to get rid of this annoying dragon?

I have this same glitch. It seems as though the dead dragon persists even after leaving the area for 10 or even 30 days. Sometimes it will disappear for a while or spawn somewhere else nearby in Falkreath hold. I know that not fully looting a dragon can sometimes cause this glitch, but like in your case, on my game the dragon corpse is empty.

I tried waiting 12 days in Dragonsreach, and then I went to play the Dragonborn DLC, which was another 3-4 days. When I returned back to Lakeview Manor to drop some things off and check on the family, sure enough my dead dragon friend was waiting there for me, clipping through the ground at the smelter as per normal.

HIghly annoying.

It will not clean up unless Bethesda fixes it. Its an old bug dragons and hostile and non hostile npcs are effected and so is weapons and shields and they need to be fixed as soon as humanly possible.

Sorry to dig up this old thread, but I have found a temporary fix.

I learned that firing a "Firebolt" spell on the dragon corpse sends it flying, very quickly. So, I launched the corpse away from my home into the distance where I could no longer see it. It did not appear again for quite some time, after several trips back and forth from Solstheim to my house. When it came back, it was a different type of dragon ("Ancient Dragon" instead of "Dragon" which is what it was for the longest time) but had the default grey dragon skin, and was not completely empty anymore.

This glitch is really weird, but sending it away with a Firebolt works temporarily in the meantime until a patch MAYBE fixes it.
