How hard are these classes?

Post » Tue Nov 27, 2012 4:11 pm

Alright, I was looking overhttps://catalog.ufl.edu/ugrad/current/engineering/majors/nuclear-engineering.aspx I want to get at the University of Florida and, much to my displeasure, I noticed these classes:

anolytic Geometry and Calculus 1,2 and 3
Physics with Calculus 1 and 2
Elementary Differential Equations

Math is my weak side. I only scored a 27 on the ACT math when all my other scores were in the 30's.

Has anyone here taken these classes? How much trouble am I going to run into with them?

I tested out of Calculus 1, as well as Physics 1 and 2, but I found Calculus 2 and 3 to be easy as hell. Then again, I'm something of a math person.

Speaking on a more serious level, it all depends on the person. It really will depend on how you think, not your math scores. Scores mean little in the scheme of things. If you think on the right level, then you'll be able to figure enough of it out to at least get by.

You're best bet is to borrow the text books and go through them and take a look.

Completely depends on the person, the school, and the instructor. What you're asking is like asking if hamburgers are good.

Edit:
Actually it's more like, "if I were to eat a hamburger would it be good?" :P

If you understand that, you'll be fine. If epsilon-delta makes no sense to you, you're probably better off not in any engineering major.

If you've never attempted calculus, then it can't be said.

Alright.

I have a really bad habit of over-thinking math problems. Last year in Pre-Calc (The class has around a 47% fail rate at my school, everyone says it's 10 times harder than college pre-calc), I had a little trouble on some things, but I got the concepts well. Most of my problems are with arithmetic and making stupid mistakes or forgetting steps for solving an equation.
