how to increase distance of loading LODS and view distance

I would think it is a skyrim.ini tweak. It was on Oblivion. If you find out what it is, post it up. I will have a look later.

Anyway the first is about the CK to load more cells not increase lod view distance the second is about increasing distance of view beyond themax allowed , this is about the ini files and the exact lines to edit to increase the distance of view of LODs in CK and in Game ...


So does anyone have the answer? I can't seem to find the right ini line to edit to increase the distance of view of lods ingame....

Shademe has answered the CK part of it. Its in game thats still unanswered. Oblivion was viewdistance I think (I cant really remember) but I found it by searching ini tweaks about helping performance issues. Look at it from the other angle as its more likely and common people wil ask about keeping LOD but reducing the distance to help fps. Try searching from that angle and let us know what the answer is if you find it. I have looked and cant discover the ini tweak (yet)

In the SkyrimPrefs.ini there's this:

[LOD]
fLODFadeOutMultObjects=15
fLODFadeOutMultItems=15
fLODFadeOutMultActors=15
fLODFadeOutMultSkyCell=1.0000

these are the highest values assigned by the launcher (advanced and then view distance tab), I don't know if it's possible to go beyond that though.

That attitude isn't doing you any favors, mate. Clearly, I'm not one - I was merely requesting, as a fellow forum visitor, that you help keep the place uncluttered.

You do realize that latter two are no different from each other? At any rate, I'm not gonna get into an argument about semantics with you; I've said all that I care to. Hope you find the answer you're looking for.

I have edited thpose but didn't change anything , I have edited the ini in my games folder in documents , not in the skyrim folder , this one seemed to work better when I had to open the region borders...

Any other ideas ... due to the non working lods the only fix for a decent distant view ingame woudl be increase the lod distance at least temporary fix untill Bethesda wakes up and give us an answer...

The only thing I can think of is the known is full lod solution, which is not really a solution. If the lods don't work then it makes no sense to increase their viewing distance of course, so what you want is to increase the distance of the objects blending into their lods. If there is this option, you can be sure it will have very much impact on perfomance. But I have no idea where to find it anyway.

I have the tree LOD not fading out bug, is there a workaround for that? Tried everything :(
