How to kill and steal without getting caught

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 3:51 am

What a joke this game is turning out to be. I'll have to try it for myself tomorrow after work, but I'm honestly worried this game will be worse than Oblivion (yeah, hard to believe they could make a game even worse than that). At least if the game ends up svcking I can use this sort of thing to entertain myself for a little bit.

Don't know what makes you think a game that is getting critical acclaim from all over will end up svcking. Just because of a hilarious glitch?

Too bad I couldn't do this to the guards in Oblivion. Maybe it blocks the psychic brainwaves.

LoL. Almost sorry I saw that.

It is hilarious though.

I'll be sure to keep a eye out for head sized burlap sacks or aluminum pots so as to save weight in my packs. Muhaha.

First mod, cheap thin air-weight pots to hang off your traveling belt.

Since I used to always get in trouble for accidentally picking up crap in Oblivion I'm sure I won't mind this much.

I don't mind the bucket thing, thats just one of those things you don't ever have to do if you don't want to. The NPC just standing there after his sister is dead on the floor is disappointing though.

I hope gamesas leaves this feature alone. Honestly, if you don't want it in your game, DON'T [censored] DO IT.

Just goes to show that AI line of sight actually works.

If a stranger put a bucket on my head, I wouldn't remove it either. If I don't see it then it didn't happen.

This is one of those bugs that I hope they don't remove, it's too funny. I recall them saying there were bugs they wouldn't remove, so hopefully it'll stay. Seems intentional almost.

I wish people would quit tossing the term AI around so loosely.

I suppose it is game devs fault this happens, as they use it too, as if AI actually exits in the computer world today.

There is no AI there. Nothing even remotely intelligent. It is scripting. If it is fancy enough scripting it might SEEm like
a bit of 'AI' but of course there is not.

Even a idiot AI would see that his sister is now dead and the new person in his shop was most likely a culprit.

I imagine it would require a lot of spaghetti script to try to work around that issue. Not saying it can not be done. maybe
a talented modder could fix it up. Some companion modders sure did amazing things with companions in Fallout NV that made the game devs
companions script look like garbage.

So, there is hope.

This is funny and disappointing at the same time. I am sorely impressed that they made vision so realistic that blocking the actual eyes of an NPC actually blocks vision. That's some realism there. But as someone mentioned, I like to see some response from the NPC if they hear someone getting brutally murdered 20 feet away. Also, maybe detect and remove the bucket after 5 seconds? That doesn't seem too difficult to add to a patch.

Games that svck don't get overwhelmingly positive reviews.
A.) Not true.
B.) Who said Skyrim svcks? I haven't even played it yet. But there are still sure signs that they've lost their touch, and just like Blizzard has in recent years been known for its new cartoony art/animation style, Bethesda is starting to become known for a big open world completely devoid of intelligent life... and also bad animations (which seem to be mostly corrected in this game, thank god). The bucket thing could be pretty hilarious, and I'm all for having optional aspects of the game being that it's single player only (see: Spell Creation, mounted combat, all the lost weapon types, all the lost spell types, etc, etc... mostly things Bethesda takes out little by little, game after game, for absolutely no reason), my complaint was more aimed at the NPCs complete lack of reaction when the bucket's removed and his companion is laying in a bloody mess obviously within sight (I definitely got a good laugh from whoever said it's good to see that the AI line of sight is working).

lol That's great!

If this wasn't intentional then I hope Bethesda doesn't "fix" this. It's something that if you are realistic you'd never even attempt it anyway, so there really isn't any harm in a funny feature like this.

I hope they fix this in the following manner:
1: If you try doing it from in front, where they can see you, they will avoid letting yo put the bucket over their head by moving out of the way.
2: If you "Sneak up" (IE, approach from behind, not actually successfully sneak) on them, and drop a bucket on their head, they respond with "HEY! WHO TURNED OUT THE LIGHTS!"

I guess they fixed the 100% chameleon gameplay from Oblivion by making it more accessible! Just carry pots around!

Yeah, that was hilarious!

I don't think it would be difficult to fix, if there is a way for NPCs to instantly attack once the cauldron, or other item, is "equipped?" Determining that might be more difficult
