How to kill a Lurker?

Post » Mon Feb 04, 2013 3:29 pm

Anyone have luck killing the Lurkers with magic? The easiest kill I have had so far was due to luck when it went over the edge of the walkway in Apocrypha. I have not tried frost damage spells yet. Wall of Storms or Wall of Flames spells seem to just tickle it's feet. The Lurkers are the tall humanoid things that want to stomp your character. I tried the Cyclone shout and it seemed like I did not have enough time to fully start the spell. I also did not try to paralyze it.

I just stand well away and pelt it with arrows while my summon distracts it up close.

They're tough. Merari gave good advice. I suggest using a sneak attack to start off. Just to do damage. Then follow through with the summon and arrows. Alternatively, you could always run like hell.

Illusion works too if you are a high enough level.

Daedra are most often weak to shock. If you've found the sword Dragonbane its pretty fantastic against them. Or higher-level shock spells (the master-level burns magicka too quick, I find).

I have no problems with them when using Thunderbolts and Lightning Storms. And that is without using Zahkriisos.

I'd wager that stunlocking with the Impact perk or getting a paralyze with the Bull's-eye perk would do wonders. I guess it depends on what kind of character you're running.

I kill a Lurker the same way I kill everything else.
I throw everything I have at it until it's dead. All depends on what's in my hands when I meet it. My character is heavy-jack of all trades, so I'm not very limited. If I'm wielding a two-hander, I'll kill it with that. Magic? I'll use whatever magic I'm using. So on, so forth.
Though, if I have two non-combat spells in my hands, I'll Shout the thing to death.

I summon 2 Dremora Lords to melee on it's body while I use my enchanted dwarven crossbow from a distance. The Lurker always seems to kill one of the Dremora straight away, but the follow up is usually enough to kill the Lurker. They are one big, badass enemy to be sure! I have been killed many times by one and I play on novice.

I use a full Marked For Death shout then I summon a Dremora Lord (or the best melee summon I can if not a DL) and then I either use a bound bow or sword to join in the fight.

Haven't tried it with any destruction magic, but knowing the Lurkers... I'd probably try to use a weakness to magic (or element) poison before hitting it with whatever element looks to have the best effect.

I try the summon and pelt technique but it's always so tediously long. I find if you can distract it with a summon and then just keep smacking it from behind with a sword or two (I used a single dragonbone 1h legendary with a fire enchantment) and it goes down pretty quickly

I find the best way it to bash on the head, neck and possibly the chest area until its no longer consisting of life pulse.

They are tough as all get out, but I must admit that I've had to spam potions against them alot when they get close. It's the fact that they sometimes spawn close to you that really makes one's day not so awesome. Other than that, the acid spit and tentacle stuff is mostly dodgeable at least.

I couldn't agree more with you.

I swear their melee is overpowered and crazy in how hard it hits. Though for an evil fish-frog of doom and gloom, it's pretty fitting.

I use a "Banish Daedra" Dagger and a "Frost Shock" Sword they really don't like that Banish Dagger it bannishes +25 Daedra and has Fiery Soul it's a dual enchanted weapon as well as the sword...

I use a dual cast firebolt, 3 hits, or a dual cast fireball, 2 hits, and there is dual cast incerinate? which takes 2 hits, but only because he is on his knees for the second hit.

I always found the Marked for death shout to be ..weak. I mean its useful in some situations but mainly imo its weak.

I just use bow & arrow. Fire breath (with the black book and Paarthy bonuses) if it gets to close.

I've never tried with magic though.

I have been sending in a storm antronach to get their attention and then hitting them with wall of flame. Seems to do the trick quite well for me.

I wasn't sure if they had any resistances. Paralyze along with causal melee attacks or lightning damage work well. I enjoy using Cyclone, but these guys were too big or it doesn't work in Apocrypha.
