how little we know "thermite"

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 9:30 pm

After placing the thermite in how little we know I can not find a way to activate it. I have closed the door and tried the switch. When looking at the switch it will not even give me an option of doing anything with it.

You may not have spread it completely around. You have to place it around several of the containers before it will be ok to activate. At least, that is what happened to me.

That's ok. I spent 10 minutes trying to figure out what to do the first time. Then I ended up not placing all of it. Then I walked right past the switch...

I swear I'm not dumb.

Also, on a side note. That quest annoyed me terribly. Whats-his-face described how to make thermite but got it wrong. Pfft... Aluminum dust and rust? Yeah right.

Well, it is half right, but somehow the aluminum dust/rust is less oxidized than their common form.......

Well half right isn't going to get you the heat you'd need to melt through steel. Then again, it's probably smart they didn't give the correct recipe. After all, we don't want a bunch of 13 year-olds making thermite in their house and burning a hole through the floor. Although it would be funny watching a kid trying to make thermite out of rust and an aluminum can hehe

Provide that they have enough chemical knowledge.....they would have done it already.

Still, I was expecting a meltdown light show instead of "bloom".

True, but at least the developer can avoid any frivolous lawsuits by not giving the correct recipe. As for kids having the correct recipe, there's nothing to do to stop it then. However, I really doubt most kids that are dumb enough to try burning things with thermite would be smart enough to know how to make it.

As for the effect, I'm usually disappointed with explosive effects in video games and movies. Everything needs to be a massive fireball of an explosion for some reason...
