How to make FRIENDLY ambush actors?

I tried to make an ambush actor, and it seemed glitchy/only somewhat successful at times. Sometimes the dwemer spider hid inside the dwemer spider cap until combat, but then never returned back inside (I don't know if that's working as intended?). On a much much bigger note, even though said dwemer spider is unaggressive, and in player faction alongside the other dwemer robots from the mod, it keeps turning on them or the other robots turn on it. Thirdly and lastly, if I am not mistaken, you have to use a leveled actor category npc in order to use ambushes correct? While I'm interested in making some miniature dwarven spiders to fit into certain small places, I am testing with regular sized ones before going on to more complex matters.

Can anyone please explain how to make a defensive ambush npc that awaits in an ambush location, only exits to defend members of the playerfaction, and then after combat goes back into hiding? (No dialogue required).

Behind spoilers reason why I'm so interested in achieving this:

The major big deal about this all, is I want a friendly ambushing npc not one that fights the player. The plan is this: There's a somewhat modified special travel cart pulled by dwarven spheres, and underneath the carriage are some small dwemer tubes with tiny dwarven spiders inside, who will remain hidden inside unless the carriage is attacked If that all works, I also want to add them to the entry of player home I'm working on, which is heavily guarded by dwarven robots, but also has respawning attackers, so they serve a practical purpose. If I can make ambush dwarven spiders/spheres work, it will add variety, give more space, and make for some final icing on the cake in this mod.
