i've been playing a Rouge like character for a while now which is lvl 33 and now that i see others use magic i wanna do it aswell. What i wanna do though is make a Rouge mage which can enchant my stuff. So my questions are as follows:
1. Should i just go Magicka?
2. What armor should i use? Does it matter?
3. Could i mix sneaking around with a dagger do one hit and use spells in real fights?
4. How does enchanting work and does it have good synergy with some other skill?
5. What kind of spells should i focus on?
I'm open for any suggestions. I've played Morrowind and Oblivion but only beaten the latter and that was when it first got released and i dont remember much...
Thanks in advance!
you can make a stealthy mage character but it doesnt work so well, cuz all spells apart from some illusion ones reveal you, you cant use ranged "sniping" and investing in sneak and one handed going around assassinating people beats the point of being a caster aswell as the problem that spreading your invested skills (more than 4 actually) makes you weak for a big part of the game.
1) at start yes, dump everything on megicka, if it doesnt affect your roleplay pleasure, also choose high elves as race (they have +50 magicka wich is alot and a huge help in the early game, aswell as a power that regens your mana very fast even in combat for a minute))
2) yes it matters, all armors have pros and cons, but if you are playing a pure caster, full cloth + alteration is too good to pass out.
3) asnwered above
4) enchanting is the most powerfull crafting in the game, you basicaly can put more and stronger enchants and customize your gameplay, as a mage, your mana pool will be boosted imensely by it doesnt have or need synergy with anything really, its great on its own, for any character build but much more so for pure spell slingers.
5) for a pure and independant mage, stick to building up destruction as priority, and closely followed by alteration and restoration, once you get to a secure level with them (like 75 or so) you can start distributing a bit more to secondary schools like conjuring and illusion (tho conjuring is a big help if you dont like using companions you may considering droping restoration for conuration in that case)
some extra tips
>this is all relative to my max difficulty mage experience.<
-use the apropriate spells for their apropriate target and situations, for exemple use thunder against casters and frost against melee attackers, also be mindfull of target races and such, dont ude fire against dark elves, and use oposite schools of magic to your targets, like frost on fire atronachs etc.
-go to the college asap
-stick to the faction and tavern/city quests at start (those are character scale I think, and make for the apropriate chalenge and leveling), these are usually under the miscelaneous section.
-make good use of your mana pool, if you are finding yourself out of man midway through fights, downgrade your spells, its best to do less dmg, but constant than to do high dmg and then standing like a puppet, while dual casting can make awesome burst with a high level spell, dual casting is best used on downgraded spells, as you take MORE effect from less mana, this particulary more so considering misses.
-cant think of more stuff atm, its late >_<
