How to make a new spell increase the relevant skill?

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 6:37 pm

Google turned up nothing, BTW.

Basically, I have a new spell, and I want it to increase Destruction when used, AKA Flames, Sparks, etcetera. It's a Drain Health spell, and AFAIK they're glitched so they don't increase the skill by default. Sorry if I'm mistaken, I'm a newbie to the CK.

Thanks for any help. :)

In the spell's dialogue window it should have a drop down menu option called something like "Associated Magic Skill" I think all you need to do is select Destruction there.

It's properly checked as a Destruction spell, but it is an Absorb Health spell, like what a vampire uses. With Skyrim being Skyrim, Absorb Health spells don't scale AFAIK. If I'm mistaking what you're saying or I'm mistaken about Absorb Health spells, please correct me.

If the player is casting a skill that consumes magicka or deals damage, and that spell + magiceffect is marked as Destruction, it should automatically add the appropriate amount of skill points to Destruction on use.

If you find this isn't the case, or if you have to remotecast the spell in such a way that the player doesn't receive "credit" for it (something I run into a lot) then you can use http://www.creationkit.com/AdvanceSkill_-_Game to add points to the appropriate skill.

Edit: This link has the proper values for leveling the skill manually:
