How to make a simple change using TESnip?

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 9:02 am

I've looked all over and can't seem to find any consolidated, meaningful list of item properties and what they mean. I know how to set up a mod in TESnip, but I don't know what the item properties refer to and what values to use. My blind fumbling in the dark had.... effects but not what i desired (Changing the item type made the kill cam animations become dagger-style, but the crit modifier is still x3/x6/x12 instead of x3/x15/x30, it also made it impossible to dual wield... oddly)

Basiclly I want to change the bound sword to behave as a bound dagger... it's damage doesn't seem that much better than a dagger in the grand scheme of things, so feels appropriate to me to let it benefit from the dagger crit perks. To that end which item properties (under WEAP boundsword/boundswordmystic) would i need change to get it to behave as a dagger for purposes of crit damage/animations?

Or does anyone have a consolidated list of item properties they can direct me to?

It's probably a keyword, change the KYWD to WeapTypeDagger. Many of the perks will apply to objects with a certain KYWD.

Sword is 0001E711, dagger is 0001E713. Not a guaranteed fix, but it might be what the perk references. It'd be under the BoundWeaponSword entry.

Didn't seem to have the desired effect - still, it's given me some insight into how it works, I understand what you mean (A property specific to daggers, must be cross referenced in the assasin's blade perk as a criteria for triggering the x15 crit), I'll playa bout with it tommorow

Heh. Yeah. Honestly, you might be better off duplicating the bound dagger and relinking the models and spells/magic effects.

I'd look into the actual perk itself and check the CTDA for information.

Edit: Actually, just did that. The CTDA function in the perk has a parameter of 0001E713 - the same keyword.

Make sure you change the keyword in all the different boundweaponsword files (there's 3, I think? or something like that - just boundweaponsword, boundweaponswordrighthand, and boundweaponswordmystic) - and then make sure you're trying it with a new spell cast, and not reloading with the spell already cast.

Well, i never did figure it out and instead did as you suggested and just duplicated the daedric dagger 3 times and changed the formIDs/EditorID's and it's working now.

Oh well xD
