How many logs to saw, and how to track?

I have a little task in my quest where in order to get some more information out of an individual, you have to help him saw a bunch of logs at a mill. I was thinking 5 to 10 seems like too few, but that 20 might be a little too much. I don't want it to be too monotonous, but I want the player to feel like they had to work for the information also. Where is my sweet spot?

I'll need to be able to count them down so that when the number is hit it sets a stage and updates the Objective so you can get the info from my actor. I'm not at home so I cant look in the CK, but is there a global or something I can use or create to count down with?

I was thinking I could just make a quest with the script that handles the countdown and sets the stage when it hits 0.
