how many pets can 2 kids have

So i got 2 kids, and one of them found a fox which i let them keep. However what about the other kid? I brought vigilance home and i didnt get any dialog of asking my kids to keep it.

I think you have to wait for the 2nd kid to bring home one..


But IIRC You have can have 2 pets.
