How many times has your character died?

Post » Sun Dec 05, 2010 4:23 am

I hate it when I die. I tried to play the Dead is dead, but I can't do it since that would mean starting a new game, and just going through the same thing over again, so I don't bother with it. So far, my character has died like 4 times so far. So how many times have you died? I guess I just don't want to be alone in dieing all the time.

Also do you think we should have a stat on how many times we die? We have stats for how many stims we take, how many health points we have, how many books read etc, so how come we don't have a stat for how many times we die? I guess maybe because of reloading from a previous save would make this stat moot, but would there be a way to do this though?

If there was a way to do this, now you have something to brag about, not dieing, or dieng very little in a game.

Not counting the times I was ready to quit for the night, saved, and went on a rampage for no reason....probably 3 to 5.

I believe my character has died 3 or 4 times now.....

I'm actually surprised there's no stat recording deaths.

It would be interesting to have that as a stat (especially since FO:NV is alot more dangerous than FO3 was), but my stats would probably be incorrect.... I have a tendency to hit Quickload in the middle of the slo-mo death scene. :D

You know, now that I think about it, I'm surprised that there isn't a stat for how many times we die. You're right, there are stats for just about everything else!
As for how many times for me? Errr ... lots. I had a hard headed phase early in my game play while trying to get to the Strip and kept getting slaughtered by Deathclaws. I finally managed to get past them but not without quite a few deaths. There is no way on Earth I could play "dead is dead". It would drive me bonkers.

At level 4 I happened to save near a deathclaw. Since I wasn't in immediate danger I spent a while trying to find a way to take it out but after many gruesome deaths I gave up.

I've only died a few times outside of that, such as the time I had low health and ended up in a nest of golden geckos - woops!

Boomers killed me with their artillery 4 times.

That gives me Gears of War flashbacks :cold:

More times than i care to admit, i often quicksave and try a direct assault to gauge the enemy's strength, once i know what i'm up against i can plan a smarter approach. Sure it's metagaming, but so what? :D

I am not shure what you mean metagaming, but I think I get the jist. Please explain though. There is nothing wrong, since we have not really lived in the game, so we can't use our 5 senses. So we can't "feel" our way around. So with you doing what you say, you are "gauging" in actualality, you are training or practicing to get a "feel" for the game. After a while, once you get "use" to the game world, I bet you stop this, so there is nothing wrong in doing it.

I got killed 3 times so far. Once by the deathclaws I wasn't expecting to see until much later in the game.

Once, Giant Scorpion after facing 4 Night Stalkers. I also killed a friend after showing him how to play Caravan. (Was trying to show him the partially buried plane and got near the gave and wasn't sneaking. Got attacked by about 8 Night Stalkers at once... and his XBox 360 controller feels way different than my PS3 controller, so I was at a significant disadvantage.

I did take out 2 Baby Cazadores with no problem. Plenty of help though (Boone & ED-E).

I lost count. I died eight or nine times before I was able to get to the goods in the broc flower cave alone. The giant rats in that hell hole are easily as bad as the cazadors or death claws for an eighth level character. The insanity of the monster difficulty is wearing thin. My best weapons are totally useless, my armor is a joke, and I am slower than everything I try to run away from.

still I refuse to turn down the difficulty, my ego won't let me.

I died about 4 times trying to get to New Vegas. Finally snuck through with the use of 3 stealth boys. Caz's, rad scorpions, Deathclaws ohh my!

I also fought my way through the Fiends base which caused about 3 deahths. Not an easy fight for a long range shooter...

Im sure i missed a couple other dealths too...plus many more before I rejoin the main story. <3 this game. I still get to try hardcoe and a harder setting once im done this run.

I've died 4-5 times so far (twice by deathclaws), but I'm only 12th level so ... meh.

As for a stat, it probably wouldn't record for me anyhow. Any time I die I go back to the main menu and load my last save from there. It's a habit I formed playing FO3 and Oblivion, where quickloading or loading a game from within an active game could supposedly end up corrupting your save because information could be 'carried over' or something like that.

Most of my deaths have been due to those damn Boomers. Amazingly I haven't died to Deathclaws yet, even though I've fought some before I was ready. Young Deathclaws are easy, but one advlt did come after us. It got Veronica and ED-E before turning on me, and I killed it when one bar of health left. :|

Excluding intentional suicides, maybe 3 times. 1 from jumping off the bison whatever hotel in Primm, and 2 from getting mauled to death by radscorpions.

Intentionally died at least 20 times, when I decided it would be fun to piss off a large area and take about everyone with me.

It simply means using knowledge that would not be available for the character, but is known by the player. Like going to get an unique weapon straight at the start of the game.

I died so many times i don't think that even if i was an evolved centaur, i would've had enough fingers on my hands and feet to count my deaths. but after i got combat armor and good weapons for all situations (Super sledge is for any animals except deathclaws, or in case i feel like causing a bloody mess, light machine gun is for humanoids, mostly for close range, and a silenced sniper rifle for anyone who hasn't noticed me yet) but now it seems that i still have to constantly save/load because my companion is dying all the time from charging blindly at enemies. what a great idea it is to have a dog as a companion.
