How many times..

..will lord Harkon grant his vampire lord gift?

Tried searching but couldn't find anything. Long story short, I got turned into a VL early in my adventuring life, joined the companions and turned into lycanthrope. I promptly went back to Lord Harkon right after turning and had him grant his gift again. He said something along the lines of "don't let me catch you losing the gift again".

I've read that Serana will grant the gift unlimited times but does she only do this at the end of the Dawnguard quest line or anytime you have access to meeting her?

Any difference between the "power" of the VL if Harkon or Serana grants it? I read something early on that Serana's version is weaker but that might just have been a rumor.

As this is leading to the whole face sculptor thing...

I don't know, something about an old man wrapping his arms around me and biting me is unappealing, I cured it and let Serana turn me personally after the MQ, didn't know you could cure it during the MQ and get away with it.

They are the same in almost every sense of the word, its just one has a woman biting you and the other being an old man..so its either your blood is primarily changed into primarily Serana's blood or into Harkon's blood, so that is the difference, both are pureblooded vampires and the first of the Volkihar clan along with Valerica.

Serana if you have her as a companion nerfs your drain life spell in VL form on your right hand though. Confirmed.

I'd assume an infinite amount of times since you're Harkon's favorite.

Don't know what's worse, being female and getting bit by an old man or being bit by another female. The guys on here would probably like the female and female... anyways, can Serana turn you into VL at anytime during the MQ?

I think Serana only offers you turn you after the MQ then again as I said I didn't cure it during the MQ, didn't know you could get away with it.

Harkon offers you the option once. If you turn him down you side with the Dawnguard. If you accept and become cured then Serena can change you back to a VL again.

Curing vampirism was a lot easier than I thought. It only involved an item.. so I tested. Cured my vampirism, went to the face sculptor, did my thing and went back to Castle Volkihar. I am early in my DG quests so I could either have Harkon or Serana turn me again. There seems to be no limit and they do not get aggro. They only say snide comments if you talk to any of the other vampires there.

Compared to oblivion it is much easier, In Skyrim you need 1 black soul gem, in Oblivion you needed 5 along with other stuff.

Sad to hear that. In Oblivion, I had to work to get rid of vampirism so I always feared catching it. I have so many black soul gems In skyrim right now it's not even funny

In oblivion, you can't become a proper vampire again, you only get the fatigue disease again, which can be cured by the witch potion. I imagine that because it's a one way idea, it's harder than in skyrim.

With DG we are not able to become a VL or a Werewolf as many times as we like.

VL is unlimited. Werewolf can only be granted 1 more time after you cure it, oddly enough.
