How much did Blackreach blow your mind?

Post » Sat Oct 27, 2012 2:49 pm

I've just entered Blackreach on my Orc and I've only been there twice before, every time it blows my mind, however this will be the first time I'm going to fully explore it.

What do you think of it? :)

Ditto. Probably my favourite place in Skyrim, even if it makes me sick for the sun.

When I was first there my reaction was somethin along the lines of "WTF, I'm in a dark cavern, yet the sun still weakens me?" Playing as a vampire that's my only gripe about Blackreach, the rest is perfect.

Blackreach blew my mind like that Apple-phile finding out that the phone-jack will be on the bottom of the phone had his mind blown in that Galaxy S III commercial...

The first time I entered Blackreach my jawbone dropped to the floor and I haven't found it since. Any tips for finding my jawbone?

It's right next to that one Falmer over there on that other side of the cavern. You know, next to that one building with the doors and the chaurus...

I never really cared to stay in Blackreach for too long, mainly because of the large amount of Falmer there. It is very beautiful though, and I was pleasantly surprised to see it after crawling through a rather large dwemer ruin. Definately not my favorite place in Skyrim though, I prefer to be above ground.

I'm the only person on planet earth who was not impressed by Blackreach. I've been in there once and I've never had any longing to go back.

It was a nice surprise.

Just when I thought giant mushrooms were beginning to lose their charm after Morrowind and Shivering Isles...

Blackreach is an amazing place, but overall it is a bit empty. There could have been a few side quests relating to it aside from the crimson nirn root one and the MQ. Considering it's size they could have done more with it I think. I did however love the little story involving Sinderion. It brought back some nice nostalgic feelings from Oblivion

Sadly I knew about it beforehand so I was expecting it to be awesome (which it was).

Blackreach is an awesome cave. I have been there a lot and still haven't seen everything.

I'd like it more if I could cast night eye on myself without being a fuzz bag.

My Vampires do just fine in Blackreach... and they're all Dunmer. ;)

I head into Blackreach with every character! I LOVE it and yes, I also had a "mind blowing experience" the first time I entered Blackreach! I wish it was more populated though! Oh, what would be cool is to encounter a small camp of explorers that you can interact with, maybe they even have a merchant with them. :D

Ok but too dark and how the hell did the dragon get there? Give me the Vale anytime.

At first it looked stunning, then like every time I get over the awe of the graphics I actually started exploring it and it was a pain in the ass.
So it looks great, but it's a very boring location to go through.

It's black. Very black. I hate that I don't see a thing. I hate how those damn Falmer can attack out of nowhere because I can't see them. I hate how hard it is to navigate. And I hate how big it is, that it seems to be no end of it. Oh, and I HATE Crimson Nirnroot.

It gives me claustrophobia, and I still haven't explored all of it. Coming up to the surface again is always a relief. I actually feel the sudden freshness of the air, irl. Really.

I don't care for it. I've explored it quite a bit of on one of character (and managed to complete the nirnroot quest), but I just get in and get out now. I like what they've done with the same motif in Dawnguard though. I guess I prefer the tunnel and cavern design as opposed to a big space.

Blackreach looked wonderful, and I marvelled greatly at the aesthetic brilliance of such a place, but I hated going through it. It felt so tedious and I left hoping that I would never have to enter again.

Later though when entering a second time, which was entirely by my own volition and not by anyone else's, unlike the first time, I enjoyed it much more.

It had me remember the fantasy ambience that Morrowind had. And there is a so much "hidden" lore in that cave. With Forgotten Vale and Blackreach they fleshed out much of the Falmer backround without using texts. Now that's art...
