So, how much is a Septim worth in Skyrim?

It's nearly impossible to know given the complexities if trying to find out exactly.

as said here:

it is worth how much one would give for it, like everything.

Exactly what it's worth. To figure that out in hard numbers given the vastly different needs of someone who doesn't need to eat, sleep, or use the bathroom, and someone who does need all of these things, is like looking at a picture of a square with no background and asking "How big is that box in real life" without any artist to tell you the answer. A toilet in Skyrim would likely cost nothing, as it's useless. In reality, it's almost invaluable as a part of today's society, though supply and competition bring it down to a reasonable price (Or regulation/supplier's best judgement if there is no competition).

Given that you can chop a thousand pieces of firewood and sell that for five thousand septims, and then use that exact amount to buy a house in Whiterun, gold is practically worthless on the firewood end and damned near priceless on the house end. Add to this equation that the gold you get for the wood comes from absolutely nowhere and is thrown into the game willy nilly, and you've got a recipe for hyper inflation and the overall collapse of every economy in Tamriel. Go Player!

And I'm not even going to address the weird fact that you can carry a thousand pounds of firewood.
