how do I obtain Dawnguard

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 10:03 am

Ok forgive me for asking whats probably a simple question but will Dawnguard be available for purchase?
Other than, "it's downloadable for Xbox!"
Do I need a code?
Can I buy it from a retail store?
Do I need a Live account to download it onto my Xbox?
Does it come for free if you've taken an arrow to the knee! Yah right!!

I want it! Tell me what I need to do!
Thanks!

you dont need live, just 1600 microsoft points (20 buck) your best bet is too start the game and then click on the add-on option and then press Y to bring up the marketplace, it should be right there.

You need a xbox live silver account (free) and then you need to buy some microsoft points with your account, for those points you can then buy the dlc (when released).

You go to the xbox live supplements store and you buy it from there. You will need to buy MS points first and then you just buy it. Voilá and click my sig for a fishystick and welcome to the forums :)

I think he means xbox live gold (that costs money). You do need a silver account offcourse (free but still requires registering and stuff).

1. Patches are automatic if im not mistaken, im not sure if even a silver account is needed for those (but it might be).

2. You can either buy it using xbox-live and a credit card, or buy a point card at your local store (with a code you redeem for the points).

But if im not mistaken you need to leave your credit card information even on a silver account (that dosent cost anything).

If you don't want to give your credit card information, this is what I would do. Go to a store where they sell games. Depending on what country you live in they might sell game point cards. The Media Markt near me sells PSN cards, Microsoft Points, Club Penguin, ect.

You need $20 to buy Microsoft points, a valid e-mail address to create a free silver account and an internet connection.

Sound like I'll be heading to GameStop here in Philly to get a game point card. Great advise.
Thanks all.

Ok these people are confusing you.

If your getting patches, you must be connected to the Internet. And if your on xbox and it's connected to the Internet, then you must already have at least a silver account.

So all you should need to do is have 1600 Microsoft points (which you can buy at a store, or on your Xbox if a credit card is registered in it) then you redeem the code on your Xbox. So now you have the points needed to buy Dawnguard.

Then you go to the Game Marketplace, which is found on the Xbox dashboard under "Games".

Search for Skyrim or Dawnguard and you'll find it.

Commence Download.

No, im quite sure xbox updates happens (atleast the ones for the xbox and not the games) when you just have a internet cable connected, before you sign in.

So no im not at all sure that patches = silver account.

But I'm pretty sure that if your connected to the Internet it'll force you to make a silver account to go to the dashboard, or else it'll treat you like your not connected to the internet. It's been a while since I first signed up tho so I could be wrong.

System updates happen automatically if you are connected. Game patches only download if your are on a profile that is onlin, either being a gold or silver. If you can access the marketplace then your profile is online. So you just need to download the points through the marketplace via credit card or buy a card at a store and go to "redeem code". You enter the long number on the back and it adds the points to your account. Best way to find Dawnguard tomorrow will be to go to the marketplace, the. Go to " add ons", then go to "newly released". Should be on the first page:
