How often do you change weapons?

Post » Fri Oct 12, 2012 2:37 am

I don't ever not have my ebony bow and assortment of arrows, but I regularly switch my one-hand and 2 handed weapons based on if I find something new, enchanted, higher damage. Do yo have a fav weapon you never leave home without?

Depends on the character and what I acquire in loot or as quest rewards, but I rarely use those items anyway... altho I did carry the Axe of Eastmarch once for the remainder of the CW even though the enchantment on it wasn't of much use. I've also used Wuuthrad and the Shield of Ysgramor for relatively long periods after finishing that questline depending on whether or not I played 1H or 2H. When it comes to unique items a lot depends on whether or not (and how much) I can improve a weapon at the smithy given my perks and any mods I'm using that allow for that.

Generally I do get attached to particular weapons though and will use them until it "feels right" to move on, for instance if I carry one throughout a particular questline I may put it on display as a trophy at the end of it provided I am able to replace it with something as good or better at that point.

My last character finished the Companions fairly early and was still using an enchanted Nord Hero Bow and Greatsword at level 50+ with no regrets. With smithing at 100 and access to Fortify Smithing gear and potions for use when improving my favorite gear I probably could have kept using them for a good while longer.

Depends on the character. But more often than not they stick with just one or two weapons.

As often as the need arises.

Seriously though, I keep my gear until I find something that looks cooler. I never use a better bow than hunting though, I like hunting in this game a lot, but the "bigger" bows take too long to draw for me.

I switch often. I like to switch between my Dawnguard War Axes, Ebony War Axes, and Dragonbone swords, plus whatever I feel like at the time. For about 30 level or so I dual wielded Enchated Blades Swords and loved it. For bows, I'm never without my fire/ice enchanted Dwarven crossbow, and my fiery soul trap Dragonbone bow for collecting souls.

Like most stated above, it depends.

But unless I am caster, I will never stick to only one or two weapons. With my main, drunken battle cleric, if I run into 5 opponents for example, I will start with my crossbow, shooting once or twice, even tho I don't have high archery. Then I switch to shield - one handed, preferably mace or Dawnbreaker and start melee combat. When I end up with one - two opponents, I disarm one with shield bash, and switch to 2h weapon, preferably Wuuthrad, and I finish them off.

From all the weapons I use, I prefer Steel Dagger the most, on my thief - assassin. Not a strong weapon, but with perks and double backstab damage it makes little difference. I often do prefer to fight with those in dual wield on him. I just like how that dagger looks like, it's realistic. But even on my thief - assassin, I switch weapons a lot, as assassins should. Most imagine assassins as dagger freaks who will stab you to death, but that isn't true. Just think of Assassins Creed, real assassin must have skill and knowledge to use any kind of weapon, even two handed.

On my Redguard, it's dual scimitars almost 24/7, every now and then I may pull a crossbow though, usually when sneaking into a dungeon.

On my Khajiit, it's back and forth, enchanted iron dagger if sneaking, crossbow if I need to put someone down at range (Hint: Wedding quest for the DB) or my Blades Katana if I get caught. It's a good setup.

I use the iron dagger only because I prefer it aesthetically, I put a worthless enchantment on it to rename(five points of frost damage I believe) and Renamed it Rulerbane.

EDIT: Also, my new Bosmer, who's at low low levels currently, switches between steel daggers and an Imperial bow. It will probably be Elven or Dwemer daggers eventually.

Depend, current characters usually has three, hard hitting bow, light bow with soul trap and sword or axe.
Switch a lot in the beginning as I get better gear, at medium level I switch as I can't improve the enchanted weapon so I has to make an new one.
If I do Dawnguard I might replace the heavy bow with an crossbow.

Nah I don't change weapons often my main character had his scimitar up until he could craft a Daedric sword and he's had that since then.

You traded in your scimitar for a flashy but lesser weapon? Blasphemy!

But its enchanted!

Which means it's ugly to look at.

Out of curiosity, what are the enchantments?

The scimitar is the most technologically advanced weapon in the game, which I guess the developers realized when the gave it a slightly higher rating than other steel weapons.

EDIT for spelling
