How Organized Are You?

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 11:17 pm

Yesterday while frequenting another forum I ran into a thread about your game collection and many where posting photos of their own. So I decided I would join in on the fun and began dragging all of my old system and games out. Little did I know this would turn into an all day affair of me cataloging each and every game for each and every system. Suffice to say this got me thinking. This may sound odd but one thing I can't wait to do is have a place of my own just to simply organize it. My mom is a bit of a slob, well more like a complete slob and my house is always so cluttered with junk.

So I was just wondering how organized are you guys and gals? Personally I'm as organized as one can be in my not so big room. I keep my games and movies alphabetized in each of their respective area, I always make my bed, clothes are always put away in the closet or dresser. I also keep a ton of list on Microsoft Word. Like I said I just made a database for all my games. I also have lists for things such as the video games I wish to buy or keep an eye on and any other items I might want.

Back in highschool I used to horrible at organising, I even went down a grade in "Order" so I suppose whenever I apply for a job or something in the future everyone would know.

Anyway I have improved alot though, and my folders on the computer (especially the MLP folder) is extremely organised. The latter is so organised that it's a true joy browsing through it, rather than being lost in a huge pile of randomness.

Also my room is extremely clean and most things are well placed and organised, I've got some OCD tendencies and I guessed that has helped me alot for keeping a nice clean room. I've got some cases of organised chaos aswell though, but as long as I am capable of finding something I don't mind.

My mise en place is impeccable. Other than that, I have a wife to keep me in check so I don't dirty up the house to bad :P

It depends entirely upon the context.

For example, I don't choose which format I own something on, on RYM. Because I don't want it sporadically say "CD" or "Digital". It bothers me. Other than that, it's all about having an organized chaos. T-shirts, socks and boxers all lie in the same drawer, unfolded, but each type of clothing delegated to a certain part of the drawer.

I used to live in filthy squats. Now I follow the "a place for everything and everything in it's place" methodology, mostly. I have my off days but most days I do make my bed, tidy up, and I wash the dishes every morning after my bath. I like things to look neat and tidy, but I don't alphabetize anything. My games are in two stacks. PS3 on the upper left, and 360 on the lower right shelves of a little wall unit thing. ("Medicine cabinet" sorta thing I guess. It's not big.)

My mom was the same way, and when I lived with her as a kid, my untidiness was one of her biggest pet peeves with me. Now I understand.

Everything is tactically, and perfectly, placed on the floor.

Everything is together where it needs to be. I have a bin of electronics stuff. All my paperwork is in a big envelope. All my clothes are together, clean separated from dirty. Most organized are the files on my computer.

I'm somewhat organized as I put my files on my computer in assigned spots. Want to make sure they are labeled by dates, but dealing with RL stuff i'm pretty disorganized. My clothes are just thrown at the foot of my bed and I dig out a shirt, pants, socks, etc... as needed. Dirty clothes go on the floor at the base of my bed *have a tall bed* and do them when needed. Only thing I will strictly organize are my spices for when i'm cooking. Keep the powders in the door of the fridge so I can quickly grab them to add to a stock, sauce, or gravy.

I try to always stay organized. I'm probably the least organized when my papers aren't hole punched and I can't put them in my binder so now they're in a mess across my desk. And I hold onto old papers a lot because I can never decide if I may need them in the future or not.
