How to play as a thief - Not a thiefassassin

Post » Fri Dec 07, 2012 1:57 pm

I have a new character that I am playing as. This character is a thief. When I say that I mean that I avoid combat if possible and try to play the game as if I am doing things because I want treasure and loot. Recently I was in a room with a boss and I knew I couldn't win a fight, seeing as all I had was a steel dagger, so I pickpocket her key and grabbed the loot and got outta there. Are there any other people playing like this? You avoid combat and collect gold and treasure?

If so, please post some tips that might help me along my way. Also I am only putting perks into the "stealth skills"

It would seem to me that you would want to invest in Illusion.

I want to play without spells. Illusion is too good I think, I might do enchanting though.

Also if you know of any good videos you can link them and I will check em' out.

I've never been great at stealth characters or characters that kill from distances. I've always been a charger - I go in with a sword or axe and just hack away, occasionally using close-range spells or if I really prefer to avoid CQC in a situation, I'll use my bow. That being said, getting back to the original point, I sadly don't have any tips for you. :\ I'm going to follow this thread though to see if anyone comes up with some good ones, as I'd like to try creating a true stealth-based character some time.
