I couldn't make it past the first couple of hours with it. It just wasn't my taste, you or others may feel differently than I do.

I liked it. I would say it's worth the 10 dollars. Not very strong in terms of story, but the gameplay is fun.

Too repetitive. The core idea was good but I'd have to give it a 6/10. I'm not using the "professional" scale which is 7/10 to 10/10 though.

A boring disappointment IMO; repeatitive, lacking in story and has the most horrendous ending I've had to endure.

It was a beautiful game with a fairly deep map creator.

It was also extremely repetitive and incredibly large to traverse around. Normally that wouldn't be a problem but the lack of architectural and geographical diversity, mixed with the respawning enemies that'd constantly be slowing you down made for an incredibly sluggish game.

If you want a game in similar style, scale but over all just more enjoyable and possibly the same amount of content (if not more) for the price point, consider purchasing Just Cause 2.

I'm not sure. I played the 1 hour trial and got it for free with Playstation Plus, but it just hasn't grabbed my attention.

Far Cry 2. It could be a good game but I couldn't make myself to play it because of two reasons:
1. Malaria. This hits you before you can say "open world".
2. Ugly. It takes the "Brown is real" concept to new grounds with 430% more bloom. Shadows are too dark and edgy.

I would recommend Just Cause 2 as an alternative to GTA4. Try Stalker as an alternative to FarCry 2. (Just Cause 2 is still awesome though.)

I had fun with it. But I just ran around and hunted animals. Still a fun little sandbox game and worth the seven bucks or whatever it is now.

The trick to enjoying Far Cry 2 is to use variety while tackling missions. I agree that the game is repetitive, but it offers so much in the way of employing strategy and creativity that there's enough to stay entertained for most of the game. I loved playing through it bit by bit, and you should definitely get it if it's under ~$20.

Thankfully i got it for nothing plus the expansion, cant say its a even semi great moment in gaming history, 1 was better, 2 just seemed to drag on for no good reason and when you finished it was actually a relief, never played it again, its in my never play again pile of game.

I enjoyed FC2 for a few hours but it didn't last as long as others.. if anything I would suggest getting Deux ex HR over FC2 which is $8 on steam currently personally find that game much more enjoyable. It provides the tactical choices FC2 somewhat has but expands it with a decent story to follow it.

Not really since it isn't even out yet. And we all thought Far Cry 2 would be amazing also.

Indeed. Far Cry 2 was majorly over hyped, promising all sorts of features. The same could and might just apply to the third.

I stuck it out til the end, but as others have said, the single-player is incredibly repetitive and hard to enjoy after a couple of hours. However, the multiplayer isn't too bad...I still play it once in a while, and it seems there are still plenty of people doing the multiplayer battles

I finished it but it wasn't very much fun. The singleplayer is really repetitive and there are some really annoying gameplay elements. For example, checkpoints along the road respawn ridiculously quickly, which makes travelling around a colossal pain in the ass. There are more enjoyable games out there for you to spend your money on.

Most irritating if you are walking along, you hear an engine revving and you think "OH [censored]!!" and then it runs you over. Especially annoying if you;ve been travelling for ages.

If you are on PC i suggest getting stalker call of prypat instead, does everything and more than FC2 does and does it better.

I picked it up for £5 last year, and was quite impressed with it.

It certainly won't ever make my top ten games list, but it's worth playing

It's quite challenging, and fairly realistic. After some use, weapong will break and you need to get new ones. If you sprint for long enough, the screen becomes blurry and you won't be able to jump for some seconds; that kind of realistic. And it's a real [censored] to navigate the world, as you more or less can only walk or sprint for a limited time, and driving isn't really that much better. You can also fast travel by accessing bus stations. Then there's the malaria which does nothing to the game aside from being a pain.

But despite this, it's fun. It actually feels like you've done something when you've finished the game. And it got a mapmaker. Almost infinite amount of multiplayer maps to play.
