How do I raise my Speech skill?

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 6:03 pm

Can't seem to raise it at all. I heard it's related to selling items, Is that right? Only I've sold quite a bit of stuff now and my speech skill hasn't raised at all...

Buying and selling, but you need to do a lot of that. I think persuading and intimidating people raises it too

I've raised it twice from buying/selling and once from persuasion i think, i am level 10.

But it is indeed very slow, i will be jumping the opportunity to train when i find a trainer.

I've raised it a point or two just selling in Riverwood (only level 5) so you might be missing the increase or something. You sure the bar under speech hasn't moved?

By the way, how do you persuade/intimidate/bribe? Can you do that with merchants or is it only other NPC's?

It starts raising pretty quick when you start selling more and more expensive stuff. Based on anecdotal evidence, it seems to me like the system is now based on the amount of money you spend and sell, not the amount of times you spend and sell. Buying houses does not affect speechcraft at all from what I can tell.

Also, I pretty much try to intimidate everyone I can and I've gotten more than a few skill-ups from it. I have no clue how they decide how much speechcraft you get from that.

Yeah. Me too, but it does take an INSANE amount of selling.

I've only raised Speech 14 points in 30+ hours and I sell items all time. There really must be an easier way. Or maybe quantity counts more than quality? I've sold a lot of expensive items, but maybe if you just spam selling carrots or something it will increase faster.

You get the options with some NPCs. I was kinda disappointed since they're really rare. Oh and there's a woman in Whiterun that you can help, after that she can train you in speech
