How I randomly roll my roleplaying characters. Try it!

EXAMPLE ON THE 3RD POST

After watching Rags to Riches I had an urge to try roleplaying. (I think we all did =p). But I really wanted to randomly roll my character instead of just pick them. I tried lots of different ways but heres the method I eventually started using.

Im using random.org to decide my rolls.

First I pick race. All I do is put in min - 1, max - 10 into the random thingy whatever and whatever number comes out decides my race! I use the order of races on the Skyrim: Races page of UESP.net. Then for gender I just do a 50 50 roll.

Right now im playing as an imperial female named Selene.

Max level - 5

Then for skills things get a bit weird.... First of all I plan on using both 1h, 2h, and marksmen during my playthrough. But I decide (by putting in min - 1, max - 3 into the "machine") which of the 3 gets a SINGLE perk. Also I choose this perk first and always give a health upgrade apon leveling up from 1 to 2. too too.

Now for the rest of the skills. Firstly you take 2 sets of 3 rolls. The first 3 rolls decide what of 3 skills you will get an extra perk into, and the second set of 3 rolls decides what 3 skills YOU CANNOT DO. As you simply don't know how to do them.

The skills I use in my roll are Smithing, Lockpicking, Pickpocket, Light armor, Heavy armor, Sneak, Speech, Alchemy.

To decide which of these 8 skills Is going to get the 3 perks I roll, I use a min of 1 and max of 9. NINE!!!!!! The reason I roll an extra number is so that I can use the lucky number 7 to decide if you can use any magic skills.

The order I use for my skills are 1-smith 2-heavy armor 3-lock 4-pick 5-alchemy 6-sneak 8-speech 9-light armor.

Heres a quick example of the character im using now so you understand how this all works. First (by putting min - 1 max - 9 into the machine magic thing) I rolled a 7. Lucky =p. After I rolled a 7 (because its special) I rolled between min 1 and max 6 to decide which of the 6 magic skills I would now be able to use. (I used the Skyrim: Skills page for the order of skills) I rolled a 4, which on the order of spells I used turned out to be Enchanting. Then I rolled again to decide the second skill. It was a 9. So I can put 1 point into light armor. Then I rolled a 7 again and ended up with alteration.

For the second roll set to decide what I COULD NOT DO. I rolled a 6 (speech) which stops me from doing SPEECH CHECKS, and not trading (so its the most ideal skill to have disabled as it doesn't stop you much). Then I rolled a 3 (lockpicking) so now I can't pick ANY locks EVER =[. I just don't know how.

Now this doesnt really tell me what who im going to do. All it tells me is that I CAN use alteration (and am forced to pick the first alteration perk, aswell as choose plus 10 magic on level up, because its a magic skill). I AM GOOD WITH light armor (which im forced to choose the first perk, and choose stamina once on level up because its in the stealth skill). And I CAN use enchanting (and first perk plus blah mage blah).

So I can still roll around with one handed and pick pocket, make potions, whatever. The only things I cant do are the magic skills I dint roll and heavy armor, lockpicking, and speech (but only the speech checks, not actualy barter.)

I would make an Archer Charachter (Imperial or Wood Elf)

I would have to eat the Meat i Kill
I would have to sell the Meat i kill to get more bow and Arrows
i would have to get The Hearthfire Dlc and have a hunting Cabin.
I would use the Skills

Archery
Speech
Alchemy
Light Armor
Sneak

for a good Bosmer Elf

for a Evil bosmer Elf

Sneak
Lockpick
Pickpocket
Archer
Alchemy (Poisons)

Imperial

I would roll as any thing with Justice, Kill him if i have to, I would use the Imperial Voice on People, if they don't , mean to attack, Completely Different, This person will not Kill Nature unless They have to, And Only Use Daggers when people get Close

Skills

Archery
Restoration
Enchanting
One Handed (Daggers only)

I should do another example roll just to make is simple XD.

Race roll.

Min - 1 Max - 10 = 6

In my race order thats a Imperial, again XD.

gender roll

Min - 1 Max - 2 = 2. So Im a female (because i choose 1 for male 2 for female)

Weapon im best at roll

min - 1 max - 3 (order 1h, 2h, archery) = 1. So i put one perk into onehanded, giving me a natrual talent over it vs others things.

Skills im best at roll

Min - 1 Max - 9 (order is 1-smith 2-heavy armor 3-lock 4-pick 5-alchemy 6-sneak 8-speech 9-light armor. If you roll the same number a secound time, roll again.) = (9) Light armor, (8) speech (4) pick pocket.

Skills I CANNOT USE

Min - 1 Max - 9 ( if you roll a skill again that you are good at or a 7, roll again) = (3) lockpicking (6) sneaking (which I can still do to pick pockets, no sneak attack bonus allowed!) (5) alchemy

I can only use the magic skill that I rolled. And because I dint roll any 7s to turn into magic skills, I cannot use magic.

What I am now
I am a imperial female. I have one perk in One Handed, light armor, speech, and pick pocket. And cannot use lockpicking, sneaking (accept to pick pockets), alchemy, and magic of any kind.

These are just the foundations of the character, they are only "what you are born with". So you can play anyways you want within the limitation, BUT YOU CANNOT LEVEL UP!

READ DIS
Im really interesting In ideas for doing other things with random rolls. Or just what character you ended up with using my system.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like you left out a roll of the computerized die for whether you're sticking to a warrior, thief, or mage archetype. So you basically decided beforehand to roll a warrior? Is that how it works: pick your archetype beforehand, then start rolling to determine skills?

I'm also wondering how you'd introduce more subtleties than strictly sticking to one archetype--say, a sneaky mage, or a spellsword, etc.
