I was thinking of starting a roleplay character but I don't really know what roleplaying is! Any tips will be appreciated

The term can have different meanings, its up to you to look for them.

Roleplay is what you make of it.

For me, it's getting into the mindset of a character (Which generally involves giving them a profession and backstory) and making in game decisions based on how that character would respond and not how I personally would respond.

You create your character. When a situation comes up, figure out how your character would react, not necessarily how you the player would. If you want, have your character need to sleep and eat. Would your character use a horse? Would your hardcoe warrior decide to use a carriage for travel? Would your warrior Nord use magic at all?

There are many ways to role play. You have to decide what you want to do.
