How I've rotated my opinion 180° in an hour

Ok, so I was the first to bash Crysis 2 for a steaming pile of console game, but I must say that I actually enjoy the fact the game runs very nice on 2560x1440 and max settings. On DX11 it could've been faster and nicer but it's a fail you can't fix without putting effort into PC section, which Crytek obviously doesn't feel worth the money.

What GOOD we have from consoles? - Nano suit simplicity makes action faster, smoother and more fun. We're not even tempted into buying 3x GTX590 and i7 990X which is good for our budget.

Actually, the more I play it, the more I like the FUN it offers instead of endless tweaking of video settings to enjoy the loading screen.

But the graphics could be better, some of the textures look soft. And that motion blur is just overkill, I wish I had a slider to adjust it.

Welcome to the light. Who would of thought that a smooth running, great looking, fun game would be better than a crappy running benchmark that no one could run well and enjoy for the next 3 years. Most people that are biching have barely even played the game, they're just sheep following the nerd raging herd.

Actually, I love Crysis 2... But it needs the graphics options, like Crysis 1, along with the console commands.

That was something that defined Crysis, being able to customize the graphics yourself. Crysis 2 needs that, plain and simple.

I think you guys need to pay attention. People are not complaining because of the gameplay. There complaining about the lack of pc features for the game. There complaining about low res textures. There complaining about how this was suppose to be a dx11 game but its a dx9 game. Crysis 1 was a dx10game. There complaining about the fact that Crysis 1 had a 64bit exe. but Crysis 2 has only a 32bit exe. Where are the graphics tweaks and oh lets not forget sandbox editor. That came with Crysis but no where to be found with Crysis 2.

Thats what we are complaining about.

The graphics are a step backwards compared to Crysis 1 in the graphics dept Crysis 1 eats Crysis 2 alive.

The story is also another complaint how they pretty much threw out the story of Crysis 1 and warhead. And rebooted the series.

Not to mention the host of bugs with the game itself and the broken multiplayer or the fact that it was a pain in the but to get the in game items you were suppose to get from preordering.

And I could go on about the inconsistent ai where one minute its flanking and diving for cover and the next minute it does not know your standing right next to it, or where it just runs into a wall and never stops running.

I could go on about the broken melee how it works sometimes and then it just quits working all together

Or how about having auto aim in a pc game?

and to add insult to injury the press start button when the game started . They had to patch those two things out of the game .

gameplay thats the last thing people are complaining about

what this game is essentially is a console port and a definite downgrade from what most pc players expected from crytek

If I wanted game play I'd boot up Supreme commander 2 not a freaking FPS game.

Well that IS the problem, smart ass. DX11 must be designed upfront, not as an afterthought.

I will say this, when the game works, it's pretty good fun. It is a shame all of the problems that people are experiencing though, with little to no updates from Crytek about what they're working on as far as fixing and when they expect a fix to be available.

I agree, I was very worried about this game but I have had a fantastic time with the campaign so far.
The music is better then Crysis, the gameplay imo is more polished, the AI for the aliens is better, Better Optimized and has great presentation.

Crysis had better graphics and bigger areas (less linear) and had more graphics options but those are small things to be honest for me. The good far out weigh the bad for Crysis2 imo and that was something I didn't thin would be possible!

Also the pacing of the campaign is simply amazing, love the mission! It still feels very much like Crysis, I play the same ways I did in Crysis, just in a smaller more polished setting.

The worst thing I have experienced is that it took me 1 hour to get my account/CE edition downloads to work,etc.. just made a new account and it worked right away, other then that its been smooth sailing!

OP is Epic Troll. I am surprised Kanoobi took the bait.

I honestly, am very happy with the game, I have never been a "Vehicle" Shooter fan anyway, so I never really got into Crysis Wars or Battlefield. I do enjoy the "Consolizing" of Gameplay in that it makes the game fast and smooth (reminds me of Tribes). I felt the Nanosuit 1 had TOO many modes, I enjoy the fact that they combined Speed/Power into one Mode. The Nanosuit 2 makes the game feel of a higher caliber in the gameplay department than COD. I do NOT like the lack of customization and the fact that I have to Rank Up just to get base weapons. Attachments I can understand, but a 20+ having access to a JAW in Multiplayer when the rest do not, is a serious problem. I understand everyone is doing the Unlocks thing in Modern Shooters these days, but seriously? Dare to be different, kind of like Bulletstorm. Sure that isn't a perfect game, but it makes you think "Why and How am I shooting this super-uber bad guy?".

Everyone knows of your first game in the PC Community as THE PC BENCHMARK as in, greatest looking game that no one could run. That is quite an achievement or not, either way not living up to previous standards is kind of a letdown. I am rocking a cutting edge DX11 PC. While the game looks good I feel it should at least surpass it's predecessor. Remember, DX11 is the efficiency of DX9 with the bells and whistles of DX10. Give us DX11 and Customizable Graphics Menus, that's it.

Everything else is a small grievance with Multiplayer tweaking that I KNOW will get fixed over the course of the game's lifespan.

No, I really think this. I hated it, now I love it except for the bugs.

My only problem with the game are the horrible, game-breaking bugs preventing me from progressing any further in the single-player unless I just want to forgo upgrading my suit and making it really difficult to play and enjoy multiplayer. Gameplay-wise and graphics-wise this game rocks.

if you didn't (or couldn't) play Crysis back in the day, you'll probably like Crysis 2. if you could, and did, play Crysis when it was the best looking FPS in the world, you're sure to be disappointed by Crysis 2.

Crysis 1 was more than just a benchmarking tool. it was a beautiful, sophisticated FPS - the kind of game that can only be fully realized on a PC. It had depth, complexity, attention to detail, options; it had (virtually) everything a hardcoe gamer could ask for. Crysis 2, while a good game in its own right, is no true sequel to Crysis. it's a console game, plain and simple.

I wish more people would just chill the fk out and adopt your approach. Am I bummed that every time I come back here I don't see a sticky about a DX11 patch or higher res textures to bring my Gtx 580 and I7 875k to its knees, yes. Am I going to get into a pissing contest with other tweaking fanatics and Cry foul play, lawsuit, want my money back, never will buy another Crytek or EA game again (yeah I believe that one, everybody's pumped about BF3), and go crying to mommie cause I read too much into some demos and assumed (and you know what they say about assume) that Crytek would be so hard that anyone with lesser than a GTX 570 or Radeon 6950 wouldn't be able to play it...hell no. Crytek Moderators and Admins, here a proposal.

Give the Crybabies their own section of the forums, a forums sandbox if you will, and call it Cry-fest. Make talking about anything besides specific game bugs/problems/solutions in the general forum outlawed, and you will be able to focus on real problems. As it is now those fixing problems and looking them up spend more time going through the sludge than actually finding what to fix.

Return to Crysis
