Autosave, I see what you meant. It's easy to forget not to save when you're having fun.

Save early, save often. Don't rely on autosaves and quicksaves! Keep multiple saves to prevent game-breaking bugs.

If you rely on auto saves, you WILL get screwed. IMO, once your char is made, make a MANUAL save. Also, turn off ALL saves, including save on travel, rest, etc. From that point on, save at your leisure. Possibly every few minutes. If you rely on autosave and make a new character, your profile will be gone.

Save often. I find myself saving a lot. I learned my mistake of not saving when my character died on a long quest...only to find that the last save was before the quest. :wallbash:

Use saving more like a checkpoint. If a lot of time has passed since the last time you saved, then you should save. If you're deep in a dungeon save often as well. You will never know what is going to come at you next. But the point is, save often!

Someone else learn this early on outside Balmora in Morrowind too?

Always make a hard save before quitting. If the game crashes or you are otherwise forced to quit unexpectedly, do not continue from a quicksave, it doesn't save all the information, autosaves are safe. Delete your quick- and autosaves after making a hard save, that reduces the possibilty of them getting corrupted due to the constant overwriting (though i can count the times that has happened since my join date with the fingers of one hand on all Beth's games :hehe:).

Or that's the way i do it. That quicksave thing may be modded PC version specific thing, script related, but better safe than sorry. Especially in a game as buggy as Skyrim.

My understanding is that it affects all platforms, but that it becomes worse as you add mods onto the PC version.
