- Smithing 100 -

- Pre Reqs:

Gold. You need a few thousand.

- Instructions:

(Taken from a previous topic created by myself: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1265552-100-smithing-nice-and-fast/page__p__19214426#entry19214426 )

First off, you need some cash.. so at least a few k's.

Let's say you have a house in Whiterun (which I do). It's an excellent house for smiths because it's very very very close to the blacksmith. In other words, you can load 1500 pounds of stuff on your guy and it would still be only a few seconds before you reached that forge.

Whiterun is the perfect location to master smithing because there are THREE smithing-related merchants. (TWO by the forge - the woman outside and the man inside the shop; and the man at the Skyforge).

Your goal here is to BUY as many IRON INGOTS/ORES as you can. They are very cheap and are sold in bunches by those three merchants. If you don't have leather, buy leather strips from them as well (as many as you can afford).

Now, with a billion IRON INGOTS and LEATHER STRIPS, hit the forge and make a BILLION iron daggers (each one uses only 1 INGOT and 1 LEATHER STRIP). For PC users, if you click on "Iron Dagger" while using the forge, the confirmation dialogue box will appear. CLICK YES. Now, instead of clicking on "Iron Dagger" again, just click where the "YES" would be (which should be somewhere near the dagger's picture). This should bring up the confirmation box again. Now you can just SPAM-CLICK until you run out of materials. You will see your Smithing skill increase EXTREMELY fast.

From 99-100, I made about 8-10 Iron daggers.

You can do this until you hit 100. Remember, merchants restock fairly frequently. So once you have bought all of the Iron Ingots and Ores, just wait 24 hours and check again.

EDIT: If you're good at stealing things... check out every blacksmith store. There are usually TONS of ingots in their rooms/basemants. Mostly IRON/STEEL/SILVER. Just make sure to be sneaking!

- Enchanting 100 -

- Pre Reqs:

Gold.

- Instructions:

(Enchanting takes a little longer to powerlevel)

1) Create Hide Bracers, or any piece of armor that costs very little to make (Hide bracers = 2 Leather Strips, 1 Leather... and there are no Smithing requirements). Make a whole bunch of them. They only weigh 1 lb each.
2) Buy Petty Soul Gems (the Wizard inside the Keep in Whiterun sells a bunch). Or if you manage to find a few, don't sell them.
3) Also buy Petty Soul Gems that are filled with Petty souls.
4) Whenever you go outside, cast SoulTrap (available for sale at the Wizard in Whiterun also) on insignificant beings such as Deer, Rabbits, Foxes, Mudcrabs, Wolves, Skeevers, etc. And kill them. They should fill your Petty Soul Gems.
5) Find an Enchating station.
6) Disenchant any magical item you don't wish to sell. (This increases your skill a lot more than enchanting the hide bracers).
7) Pick your Item (Hide Bracers).
8) Pick Your Enchantment (any will do. I use Fortify Sneak because it makes the resulting Hide Bracers worth more when reselling).
9) Pick your Petty Soul Gem.
10) Craft, again and again and again.
11) Repeat. Each enchanting level should take about 3-4 enchantments to increase.

If you're leveling enchanting and blacksmithing at the same time you can easily recoup some of your investment by enchanting the daggers, an iron dagger enchanted with absorb health from a petty soul gem is worth, surprisingly, 600g or so even at low levels.

Wish I knew that 20 gameplay hours ago! Lol

I might do the Light Armor one just because leveling light armor as an assassin is ridiculously slow.

Probally worth mentioning sales still only count individually, so when selling those billion daggers that are enchanted sell them one by one to get the most out of leveling speechcraft, not to mention as you level that you'll get a bit more then you would selling them wholesale.

i believe once you enchant an item, the game separates that item.

ive have 20 Hide Bracers in my inventory, all with the exact same enchatment, yet none of them were stacked. So i pretty much HAD to sell them individually.

The Un-enchanted Bracers were all stacked though, which made it easy to identify them in the list.

No need to wait until nightfall for Sneak. Just go to any palace/keep that has permanent guards posted. Find a corner or a wall and autorun into it. The guards never leave regardless of time of day.

Just an FYI, but Warmaiden's (Smithing shop) inventory and cash is shared between Adrianne Avenicci and Ulfberth War-Bear. Technically they are one person as far as merchanting goes.
If you drain Adrianne's cash, Ulfberth will also be broke.

I'm not following the sneak training here.

Does it level up simply by your character moving around in the area while sneaking? Could someone give me some more in-depth explanations?

Your Sneak skill levels up for every certain number of steps you take while Sneaking when there is someone around (hostile or friendly doesn't matter) who could detect you but hasn't detected you yet.

Thus sleeping NPC's are the best. They can't detect you, but they do wake up if you make too much noise (i.e. running while sneaking without the Perk or Muffle spell), so they could detect you.

Alright thank you very much. I always thought you had to either kill or complete some other action in order to earn sneak skill

Hitting someone while Sneaking and undetected (i.e. a Backstab) does level your Sneak skill much faster, it also counts as assault. Unless you are whacking on Shadowmere or one of your Companions, you run the risk of spending a lot of time in jail, or a small fortune on fines.

It is often safer to simply Sneak around a persons bed while they are sleeping, preferably a room with multiple sleeping individuals. Jorvaskr mentioned above is a great example as the Companions sleep with something close to 3 - 5 people in the room.

you don't even need to move to level sneak. mine goes up just sitting still, left my guy sitting in a corner behind a couple necros and my sneak went up.

The bear in the starters cave is a good place to practice sneak, plenty of places in the wall you can get 'stuck' to so you will always be moving forward and the bear doesn't notice you

You really waste A LOT of time trying tricks to progress fast. Plus it bores the hell out of you.

I managed to max Sneak, Archery, Light Armor, LockPicking, and a few others (including Smithing) by just playing the game. I probably crafted like 20ish iron daggers though just to max Smithing though.

Well, the sneaking trick is pretty neat if your phone rings and you have to stop playing the game.

Also, sometimes you need 3 or 4 skill levels to reach that one perk you want. Use these tricks to get those 3 or 4 levels.

Not true , they both have seperate inventorys , you can go drain the womans cash then go in the shop and drain his , they even sell different armor and weapons , not to mention you can go buy 30 iron ingots of the woman then go buy 20 more in the shop.

For sneaking...

This was the easiest skill for me to max as draugr are lazy bums who are easy to backstab while they are still in their tombs/coffins/shelf. Their name doesn't highlight when you get close to them for the sneak attack, but they are killable while sleeping. I find this highly effective for restless draugrs who are a little tougher to take down. I have yet to find a sleeping wight or scourge.

I gotta say tho, once you get a pretty high sneak skill, one-shotting those giant dwemer machines is pretty flippin awesome!

Dude if you're going to go to the trouble of using a macro to exploit something in a game on PC, why not just cut out [censored] and use console codes to increase your stats?

I don't really feel like using these techniques is really exploitive by the way, I'm just saying using a macro program is. (and a ridiculous thing to do in a single player RPG.)
