How do I stat my battlemage?

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 11:18 am

Read all below before posting!

Hey guys, this is my first oblivion game. I bought the big guide to skyrim and I decided to make a battle mage. I need help on the stats, dont say do it how you want to. I want a recommended solid build.
Below is what I use/equip:
1. Dual spell (attack and attack spell or attack and heal spell)
2. Spell and 1handed wep (heal and 1h or attack spell and 1h)
3.Staff and spell (rarely)
4. Should I magic at range and then 2h?

I am level 10, so far I have 5 magika 3 health 2 stanima.
Also! Should I do a wep perk for increased damage?
Help is appreceated, no flaming!

-Thanks

You need all three.

As a battlemage, you use Magicka often, and you get hit often. Along with that, every class needs some Stamina, for carrying capacity and long fights. So, spread your points out evenly.

Hey guys, skyrim is my first elder scrolls and its amazing. I bought the huge game guide and I decided to pick battlemage. I am level 5 almost 6 right now, and im not sure what stats I should be doing? Like magic, health, stanima. I dont really understand what my guide says, but im thinking its a 3:2 ratio with magic and health. Could someone clear it up or give me a good stat build. I use dual hand magic or 1 hand magic 1 hand wep. No flaming.

-Thanks :foodndrink:

First I think there is no right way to stat it. I will of course put my perks in heavy armor, one handed weapons, and some magic skills. When I level I wont put all my points in magic but some in other areas which are more melee oriented.

Going to be a fun ride!

Build YOUR Battlemage as you wish him to be... As there are no classes (except major direction and leveling advantages in that skill area - Stone of Runes) and explicit roles, you can make your Battlemage the way you want him to be: übermagicka, low HP, whatever you want. The game gives you the options with every level up... 10 pts Stamina, Magicka, HP + 1 Perk. What you do with it is your choice. How can anyone help you?

I'm Dunmer with good magic prepositions, in the first few minutes of the game I found magicians robes which give Magicka+ and Magicka Regen+, so I don't level Magicka too much though I use it a lot. As I don't wear any armor, I put more emphasis on HP and Stamina, so... you have to know what items you want to use and what advantages they offer to you so you can know where to save some lvling points!

Something like that since its a hybrid class. There is no right way to do it but I think I will put more into magic and less into the other things.

Good fun

I've been playing sucha character myself, at level 7 currently. I've been raising the stats equally, but oncce i get higher to level i expect to focus mostly on magicka. Tactics is to attack far enemies with magic, and when they close in finish them off with two-handed weapons, so skill focuses are Destruction, Restoration, Two-Handed, Heavy Armor, Block Enchanting and Smithing.

If I had to build a battlemage I would most definetly NOT invest in stamina or weapon perks at all, would relly on staves, weapon enchants and close range spells for main source of damage.
I would also pick 3-4 main combat skills tops at set it high priority to use so that they level faster and get high asap, heavy armor, destruction and restoration are all a must since you cant really relly on staves or enchants early on, once those get to 50-70 I start building up backups wicher ones complement my playstyle better, like block and illusion.

ps: I only play on max difficulty so everything I say is relative to that.

I would go with an Imperial. 60% focus on magika and 40% on health. Destruction and restoration. Secondary skill could be Illusion and heavy armor. Essential perks: Spellcasting rank perks, Illusion dual casting, Destruction dual casting, Augmented flames, frost or shock. Recovery and then Juggernaut. As far as weapons, spells of course supplemented by a staff or a one-handed as needed. I would use heavy armor that is enchanted to increase your magika or magika regen. Just for the record, this is not my build. Good luck.

1 hand, so you can use your main weapon while chaneling spells, like supportive spells, restoration ward or alteration paralize.

Isn't that style - 1h + spells - traditionally called "Spellsword" in TES games? Battlemage should use a staff or dual spells really.

Wellll battlemage uses heavy armor, and battlemage uses both 1h with spell and dual spell
