How will questing work?

Post » Sat Oct 27, 2012 10:28 am

So I just listened to Jessie Cox's (OMFGCata) video. He said questing is very similar to wow in the sense that you go to an area and there are chain quests, once you are done those you go to a new zone. That I am fine with, but what I really want to know, and have no idea if this has been talked about, but will questing be like WoW in the sense that you are sent to kill x amount of a mob, or gather y amount of a certain item?

Apparently those quests do exist, but they're few and far between.

After watching the Jessie Cox presentation I have to question if that is the whole game... or just the starting area that trains you how to play.

Beth did state that their goal for this game was to be open-ended and use the compass system like skyrim... not make a series of quest-hubs you visit leading you on a little path.

Others disagreed on chain quests and quest hubs, saying that you won't see them, at least in traditional sense. Perhaps that Jessies article applies to Newbie island?

Apparently if you select a quest-giver they glow with a green aura, but you actually have to select them, it isn't like most MMOs where an exclamation mark flaots above their head all the time.

Still, I hope you can turn off the indicator.

After listening to this podcast (http://elderscrollsotr.mymiddleearth.com/2012/10/26/episode-43-hands-on-with-eso/) I got a much better impression of things and it all sounds very exciting (despite my minor issues). Careful it's like 3 hours long, but a lot of good info regardless.

Yeah, Devs have been saying from the start that there are no Quest hubs per say. It will be more like Skyrim and other ES games where you get quests and tasks by exploring the game world. So I would disagree with the notion of the quest system being like WoW, sounds like it'll be a rather opposite really.

You can be sure that questing will be same as it was in Skyrim or Oblivion.

Devs go with the Lore in mind (ie lore/history or history of the older games).

We can safely expect old skool Elderscrolls questing. AND that the major point in it is the exploring part.
