How will the size of the Alliances effect the game?

Post » Mon Nov 12, 2012 6:33 pm

This has probably been discussed, but I wouldn't even know where to begin to look it up.

The Ebonheart pact contains the fan favorite the Argonians, and also the Nords, which I know a majority of players use to create their characters, throw in the fact that there are no Imperials and that the Nords created the Empire so the people who like the Empire are somewhat likely to make a Nord character as well, and then throw in that the Dunmer are also well thought of after the Morrowind game.

So I am going to assume that, the Ebonheart Alliance will almost certainly be the largest Alliance in the game

So let's say 70% of players are Ebonheart, 20% are Daggerfall, and 10% are Aldmeri, what would that do to the game if anything?

Btw, I'm not saying that will be the break down, and I'm not interested in how much you love this race or that or how you think it won't be true, I just want to know if it were to happen what would be the effect.

As in any 3 faction game, there will always be a sure winner, no matter how much the devs and other people tell you "oh but the other two factions will work together to topple the winning faction" - bzzzzt! wrong, this doesn't actually happen - what happens is the other two occasionally chip away at winner but mostly everyone rails on the clear loser, as that is far easier.

but with players being assigned to a pvp instance. the overall population wont affect pvp. each faction will have equal numbers allowed into zone. for example (pulling numbers out my ass here)

the overall game population is 60. 30 are EHP. 20 are DC. and 10 are AM.
each pvp instance holds 15 people. so 5 people from each faction will be assigned to each pvp instance. 5/5/5
so the game would need 2 pvp instances. because only 10 people are AM.
20 from EHP and 10 from DC would have to wait in q for the pvp zone.

the overall population doesnt affect the game. other than longer possible ques.

It probably won't happen quite that fairly (making instances cap at lowest population faction).

I actually thought the pvp instances weren't actually instances in general like they are in pve, they were campaigns, and so set instances (not perpetually inflating numbers of instances - there will be fixed campaigns).

i know. i was using easy math. but equal parts of each faction will be allowed into the zone. just because/if EBH has 70% of the games population it doesnt/wont make or give them an advantage in pvp.

Check the added bit to my post - I'd just remembered something I read about campaigns (so I suspect the pvp instances will be fixed numbers and won't be potentially infinite like they are in pve).

could be pop caps for campaigns themselves. That would equalize it.
