How will you do the main quest?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 8:24 am

I for one like to avoid it as much as possible

Leaving it off and go exploring, doing side quests, and building up power

i was level 50 in morrowind before i did the second quest in the main quest

So what do you like to do?

Do several of them quickly

Alternate

Or some other method?

I'll go straight for it because I really want to know what dragons are really up to.

Ill probably play 2-3 hours before hand, then play 2-3hours of main quest then go back to random side quests and stuff for 1 week or two. :D

I will mix the quests where I find it fits naturally for what my character would do. I will however save the end of the main quest for very last.

This, except if the MQ is like Oblivion where everything seemed super important to get done as quick as possible it'll probably be the first questline I complete.

I'll avoid it as long as I possibly can. Probably pursue some sidequests that match my characters overall background and personality.

Hmmm, good question.
I think I'll do just enough to let dragons start spawning, minimally. I hope to run from the occasional dragon early on  Then I'll start living it up in skyrim and save the rest of the MQ for later. I want the finale to feel like a finale.

I think I may alternate on side and main quest depending on how far in the main quest I think I am.

Drag it out as long as possible.

Do one section of the main quest, go of on a side quest binge.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

I will take it slow and steady. Once the MQ is over, the game is pretty much over for me, so I will make sure I explore everything else along the way, but I will never ignore it.

I've drawn this comparison before, but it will be like eating the different parts of a meal at parallel rates, so I finish the last bite of my sandwich, my last handful of fries, and the last swallow of soda all at the same time - instead of drinking my soda all at once and being thirsty for the rest of the meal.

Also, I lolled @ Brutalis' post :)

Me too. World first. Main quest only when I get desperate.

In Oblivion, I attempted to do the MQ 3 times...and got about half way every time. All of the artificial pressuring to get things done in a timely fashion kind of pissed me off to be honest. So I usually just did everything else.

I think Skyrim will be different for me though, I am really, really liking the storyline/overall idea so far, at least as far as I understand it. I am probably going to have a pretty decent focus on the main quest but I will do whatever comes naturally to the character. If there isn't any sense of urgency or whatever, then I will certainly stroll off the beaten path and do a bunch of other stuff. But I am definitely finishing this main quest!

Morrowind had a main quest? Huh, guess I should have checked that out. :)

I'll hop on and off it every now and then. I want to moderate myself well enough so that I don't neglect it, but also so that I get a good taste of what's outside it. I just hope that leaves me enough on a second playthrough.

On my first play through, I like to finish it ASAP. Then I push it back with each play though; by my 20th or so I'm finishing all of the vanilla factions, some modded content and maybe even the misc. quests before I do the main chain.

I will do the main quest.... AS BATMAN!!!!

Seriously though, I usually do the mq right away if we are forced into it (like Oblivion's). Morrowind's mq, I waited a bit because delivering the package to Caius didn't seem as urgent.

I will avoid it for a while to take a good look at the world before being chased by dragons like the helicopters in Far Cry

Well Tod said you have to do the main quest a bit so dragons start attacking you, so i will probably do just a little maybe 3-4 missions and than do something else like join the guilds and do all quest there.

I will do the entire thing first on my first character to get it out of the way. For the rest of my characters I will only do a little bit of it to get the dragons to appear.

I will alternate between the main quest, my chosen faction for any given character (mage's guild first), side quests, exploration and miscellaneous quests/objectives. Not going to fast travel at all so I will just do stuff as it crops up during my travels around Skyrim whilst following the main quest and attending to the college of winterhold business.

Do the main quest until the quest get to hard then go do a few guilds, mess about a bit level up then come back to it. Same with every quest line really!
