How do you kill an ice wraith?

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 7:54 pm

I watched a youtube video where the dude said the only way he killed it was repeatedly swinging a 2H weapon. I tried a staff of shock and casting fire, but it didn't seem to have any effect. I'm a lvl 17 battle/mage.

Hit it a lot. I haven't found them as very difficult opponents. Maybe try some frost resistance?

My first character was a fire mage, they were little more than fancy speed bumps.

My current character is a fighter . . . suddenly ice wraiths were much scarier. :) I ran away from the first few that showed up, but now I just bash them with my sheild and then bludgeon them into the dirt.

On my sword and board warrior, I shield bash them and hack them to death. On my mage I just backpedal spamming fireball until it dies.

Aim for the head.

Also - I don't know, it might be me, but I find I can only injure/kill them with enchanted/bound weapons. Am I wrong?

I think the problem with taking them down with weapons is that you have to hit them on the head- and when the head's in front of you, you're being bitten/frosted.
Fire works great, but I have killed them with normal arrows (which seem to go through the "tail" without striking).

Heh, same for me.

Fight a wisp mother with your warrior yet? They are extremely annoying as melee.

The problem for me is that they seemed to move around a lot and it was hard to hit them. Precision spells like firebolt always missed because they always move and are small and hard to see sometimes. So flames spell or fireball worked pretty well.

I found them tough until about lvl 19-20 then they drop like flies. They`re easier if you have a flame enchanted weapon though.

Thanks, all, for your suggestions. I enchanted a steel battle axe with fire, downed a resist frost potion, did the trick. :foodndrink:

I use my companion or a summon as a distraction so that I can aim carefully. Little buggers move fast.

Lightning. If you run into an enemy this will not work for, use more lightning.

Almost level 30 here and still using my iron sword (only upgraded to Flawless with NO enchantments) i found in Helgen during my escape at the start and...it still works great against any foe!
